Here's a couple of pictures of my humble workshop. Thanks to y'all on GJ, I was inspired to put a little work into the place and spiff it up a bit. I insulated the walls and ceiling, put up some paneling and a few more electrical outlets. I added a workbench, pegboard, and cabinets.

Big thanks to my father in law for help with the walls and ceiling and my old cousin for saving me from electrocution.

Nice job Ugly. I would like to see outside and car pics.
Is that attic access above the door?
Open it, I have to see.

Thank you sir. I think the car in the pic is a early 50's Mercury, publicity poster from a car/kulture event in Houston.

good eye, quititman, that's my attic access, I'll get some more pics for you, though it's only a trap door.

You can tell the difference between a garage in Texas and one up North. Texas garage has a fan or two and up north garage has a heater hanging from ceiling. :spit: Gets to damn hot here in Texas. Love it thou.
Great looking Garage Mr Ugly.:rocker:

Those fans serve a dual purpose down here, cooling and blowing the mosquitos off of you.

I scored the inclinometer from an antique store for $20, it's marked 1942, so I figure it might have seen action. It's one of my favorite treasures. I served 6 years in the Navy (88-94) and don't recall these on surface ships. Hey Chief, were they on subs only? Your inclinometer is a work of art!

I had planned on hanging the cabinets separately on each side of my workbench until my wife suggested I stack them. They make better use of the height in the shop and the lack of square footage. Thank y'all for the encouraging words.

yes they were on all ship, i started out as a Damage Controlman, we used them a lot when refueling and thing like that, and to know the point of no return in high sea's, and that you never wanted to see LOL,
The one I have was in the Log Room, it was hand made, and more just for Show, all ship had ones like yours, and you Got A GOOD Deal on it,

I was drawn to your thread, because I had nearly the exact same thing when I started out. I had used my one car attached for more room in the house (family room) so I built a free standing carport, with a 10X20 shop on the back. Later, I enclosed the 20X20 carport and added double garage doors (error!!) and a sliding patio door, and windows. I have wished a thousand times I put in ONE garage door 16', instead of two 8's.
The 20X20 garage I wound up with is just not quite long enough for my extended cab Chev Truck to park in. I can, however park wife's Tahoe in it, by folding one of the mirrors. I have my office and machine shop in the 10X20' area which works great. I have one of the bays in the 20X20 garage for parking, and one for shop area, benches, tool cabinets, etc. I used to have that area FULL of woodworking machines, but later built an 8"X16" building beside the garage to hold that stuff.
Your spot looks great!!!!!! It reminded me so much of the set up I had prior to enclosing the carport.

HSpencer, I've thought about enclosing the carport, but like you said, I just wouldn't have enough room to get in and out of my vehicles. My plan is to pour a slab on the south side (right side in pic#1) and put a roof on that someday.....someday.

thanks for the kind words, lowbucktruck
