A true story that unfolded just yesterday. I need a 1-5/16" annular cutter for a job, and of course I need it fast. The ONLY place that might stock such a thing was my pathetic LWS. I called - nope "but they can order them." Uh huh.
I ordered from MSC, selected next day free upgrade, and had it at my shop today. My little machine shop would literally grind to a halt without MSC, and when it comes to reasonable shipping charges (this time it was free) no one can beat them for overnight at Ground rates.
Sure, you pay a bit more for the actual products, but if you're in business it still winds up being a solid deal. Some people are already within a standard UPS 1-day radius of an MSC or Enco warehouse, so this will not seem special to you. Me, I'm not, and the ability to affordably have exotic cutting tools tomorrow is huge.
MSC rarely has such a low threshold for their free shipping promos, and when you consider its effectively free Next-Day for anyone, it's a good deal -- again, mostly for businesses; hobbyists are expected to order from Enco and pay less but w fewer perks.
