Just to clarify, the promotion advertises 'up to' 35% off. I haven't tried this particular sale, but in the past, everything I've wanted to order had considerably less than the maximum advertised discount.

I have ordered from MSC countless times and have never received less than the maximum discount. Although, I have only ordered tools from them. Maybe high dollar shop equipment and machinery has a smaller discount...Do you have an example of something that you did not receive the max discount on?

Yep, I just tried a Mitutoyo 545-135S bore gage and it discounted it only 20%

Still a good sale though.

When you register with MSC direct, you can sign up to have the specials emailed or faxed to you. At work, I have them faxed to me and they're sitting on the machine when I get in. The emails are in my mailbox when I get home at night.

On 9/8 I got a notice that mentioned up to 40% off Metalworking tools with a certain promo code so I went looking for a good pair of calipers to replace my cheapies (measuring instruments were specifically mentioned as being included in the promo). I put just about every one of the less expensive pairs of Starrett and Mitutoyo 6" digital calipers in my cart looking for one that would get the 40%. I also tried several dial calipers. I think the most I found was about 15% off. I ended up not ordering since I didn't need it, I just thought 40% off would be too good a deal to pass up.

I don't blame them, they probably have to protect their margins on certain items that have a smaller markup to begin with. I was just pointing it out beacuse they don't show the % discount you get in your cart, just the $, and I know that arithmetic doesn't come naturally to everyone.
