I found a used MT2500 scanner for $200 OBO. Is this a good deal? Ad says it has cartridges up to 93, but updates should be available from Snappy. Any input?

I'm a DIYer and have American vehicles from 92 to 08.

Thanks,
Skyking

Check Ebay to compare prices and to look for updates. The red brick was probably the best thing since sliced bread for OBD1 (pre96) vehicles. They could only improve it so much. Updates from a truck are expensive. If you buy it, just remember that Snap on no longer supports the platform. There are also many accessories that come with the brick such as personality keys and adapters. Make sure it's as complete as possible before buying....

The dealer told me not to update the brick to the last update because being so old it would make it unbelievably slow. That said, you missed the boat. Last fall for a week Snap-on gave 750.00 for the brick on a trade in for a Solus. That said, 200 for the brick is a good deal for the info they have...

that is a good door stop now.
guys still use this thing though. 20 years on the same scan tool is long enough. time to move on.

there are some around here for 200 bucks with the updated cartridges updated to 2006-2007 with all the adapters....
but there are small scanners now that do more for about 200 bucks
