MTG2500 Is it worth fixing?

I have a 1987 Toyota Cressida. Got a MTG2500 to interface but battery is dead, natch, and it won't turn on even with the transformer power adapter. It looks brand new with all the adapters and everything, but not sure what to do. Saw the Solus uses the same adapters. Had an OTC dso but that was a complete pain, so looking for something easier to use with two-way control and recording capabilities. I thought maybe fixing the MTG would be best, at least open it up and see if anything melted in there. How hard can it be to fix one?

I had an MTG2500 that took FOREVER to boot up. Thought it had something to do with cold temperature, and maybe it did...but it was extremely annoying. I could connect it to the vehicle, and maybe it would take 10+ minutes before it would actually turn-on. Leave yours connected and see what happens.

Eventually, my MTG2500 got gasoline spilled on it, which solvent-welded the cartridges in place. I replaced it with a Solus Pro, and the Solus Pro REALLY IS an upgrade. More memory, bigger screen, FAR more resolution on the graphing--which is four-channel instead of two-channel.

The only thing my Solus Pro (AND the MTG2500) wouldn't do, that I needed it to, is auto-bleed the ABS on my '97 K2500. I could get ABS sensor data, and ABS "codes", but no auto-bleed of the ABS. This was software 6.2 (MTG2500) and 8.2 (Solus Pro). I have access to a Solus Pro with 14.2 software, and that WILL auto-bleed the '97. The MTG and the Solus Pro 8.2 software would auto-bleed a newer, 2003 Trailblazer, but not the '97 K2500.

I thought the trans was shifting poorly. Problem with Toyotas is there is rarely a problem. If you like working on cars better off with a GM like I used to have. Anyhow, the dipstick is not that accurate, so I added small amounts of fluid until it started to shift better. Fluid capacity range is very small so didn't want to overfill. Have the scanner mostly for fun. Found a detached 4 pin socket on the MB, couldn't find a solder tech in town so I proceeded to destroy the connector with my too big point. Now its for parts. Google Ai is great help but thought the snap on mtg2500-600-2a wall transformer (rated at 24V) might have fried the motherboard, but could not find any evidence of that.
