I did a little curb job the other day, all time spent from setting forms to finish trowel work was about three hours. Two for the forms and one for getting mud in the forms.

I’ve used the Steele Mixer for several small pad pours, and it’s been solid—no more heaving bags into a wheelbarrow. If you're wondering how to mix concrete with a portable mixer like this one, it's way easier than traditional methods. Cleanup isn’t bad either—just rinse it out before it dries.

You've done this?

Unless a lot of excess water is used I can't see this working well
Lowes 125 bags project, mesh, rebar, glue, water, sweat; took awhile;) including buying it, loading and unloading the beater truck. Great workout cancelled my gym membership. Neighbors were impressed or thought I was crazy.

I really hope that was a bunch of small projects broken up over time. There's no way you mixed that much concrete one bucket at a time with a drill to have a strong continuous pour.

I'm not even sure I would have attempted that with the two to three bag mixer

MudMixer is great for the projects I've done, which is just filling in some roughly 5' x 5' or so areas at my house and others houses. Thinner slabs, may 3 or 4". I could see it being used for bigger areas, but not much bigger. At a certain point, it becomes cheaper to go with a cement truck. Going rate to rent seems to be $100 a day for it around here. I would've bought one (they go for about $2000 used here), but they're made in China, which I thought was odd with the price point that they used to sell them at (~$4000 like OP paid).

Yes they are made in China but for an American company. Mine was actually $2999.00 and with tax put it just over $3k, I got in on a pre-buy crowd source when they first came out which is how I got mine as cheap as I did. At today’s pricing I’m not sure I’d buy one but if you have the option to rent one that’s the way to go if you are just doing a couple of projects around the house. If you are a contractor then spend the coin and you’ll get it back in time saved and the efficiency it offers on the job.

Hence the hopper extension, reduces feeding trips, allows you to work the medium without the constant back and forth. 💯
Yes the hopper extension allows for more material but I've found its better to shut the machine off when you got to work the mud around if you are doing the job by yourself. If not you get caught up in getting it spread and forget to reload the machine.

Ive used mine a few times now. Mostly for fence/gate posts at about 5-6 bags a hole. Done about 200bags so far. It stupid fast with 2 people. If you are by myself, you have to stop the machine every once in a while. The most convenient part is setup and clean up. I filled an abandoned well last week and it was less than 5 minutes for setup and clean up!

This weekend I'm pouring a 100 bag slab by myself. Not looking forward to it.

Let me know how it goes. I have a 10x14 shed and I'm on the fence whether I'm going to pour a 4 inch pad, or just pour a footer and set it on top of that?

Shed was preexisting when I got the house. Dang dog tunneled underneath it, now the supports are compromised. Plan is to relocate the shed to a different section of the yard if I can.

Keep an eye on the motor temp. I was in an early chat group for the mud mixer and there was a guy that did 100 or more all at once and smoked the motor about 3/4 way through.

I’ve been watching this from the sidelines since the beginning. Your comment about someone smoking the motor made me look for the spec thinking maybe that person didn’t use a large enough gauge cord.

I was surprised to see it only draws 1.6amps. What the heck is in that thing? Plus it’s reversible, is it a dc drive gear reduction set up?

Kind of makes you wonder why the hell it's so damn expensive

There's not much load on it. Just pushing semi-liquid mix through the auger. Plus there's a lot of gear reduction. The auger is probably only doing a couple rpm.

Well the video I watched a while back sure indicated a low slump value and looked well mixed. Guess I’ll need to watch again because im not buying into a a 1/4hp motor running the show.

But I could be wrong.

Poured my slab this morning. 94 80lb bags by myself. Started at 0600 and finished the last bag at 0900. I had to stop quite a few times since I couldn’t keep up with how fast it was mixing the bags while moving the concrete around. Pretty happy with how it turning out.
