Hello, looking for some ideas here.
I have a back porch mud room area that connects my garage to the rear entry of my house. Area is heated and slowly getting finished. Currently the floor is about a foot lower than the ground outside and my garage floor, so I have to step down into it when coming from outside.
There is a 6'x10' area that is inside both of these doors that I am planning to build as a raised floor. Basically want to walk in flat onto this deck, then just have 1 step down into the room.
My question is what would work good for a floor surface in this area?
I have considered just building it like an outside deck, and try to get the floor boards close together, but really want to be sure nothing (dirt/crud) get underneath, as there will be no way to clean underneath the deck area.
Also have thought of just surfacing with plywood or some type of sheeting and painting or coating it somehow, but also keeping it slip resistant.
Floor is concrete and recently epoxy coated with chips, so I don't really want to try to match that and have it off. Rather try to find some color/texture that complements it.
The rest of the room is going to be sort of rustic/barn style. Rusted galvanized tin on the ceiling. T1-11 sheeting on the walls.
See general layout below. Yellow area would be raised above the rest of the floor surface.
(Reserved spot for pic/diagram whenever Photobucket receives it)
