I have been thinking about making a cart for awhile, and since I just moved to a new garage Its a better time than ever. I have 4 machines.

-PowerMax30 Plasma
-100 Lincoln Mig
-140 Miller Mig
-165 Tig/Arc HarborFrieght

I want to have space savings as well as possibly a welding table if feaseable. It will have to hold 2 tanks, argon and co2/argon for the two welders.

Anyone have any images so I can get an idea diff from the current one I have about holding multiple welders/plasma systems?

purely out of curiosity... why 2 migs?

my guess is one is set up for aluminum the other for steel, or the smaller one is set up with .025 wire for sheetmetal work.

unless you have a large space to move around in, 2 (or 4 smaller) carts may work.

even when i had my (bigger) shop, i had seperate carts for my plasma and mig. rarely did i need to have them both in the same area at the same time.

just my $0.02

Was hoping to eliminate the 100 thats been dropped from over 3 stories and works, but the board in the miller died I think, so ill be trouble shooting it soon. I might set it up for aluminum, that is a good idea. I had thin wire 0.025 in the lincoln and 0.035 in the miller. Was a nice body welder.

Dugan, when I get home (I'm on my phone) I'll post a pic or two of my cart. It has two machines on it (precision tig 225 and a Lincoln mig 180) with room for a plasma cutter later. It holds two tanks and has a work top and filler holders on the side. A vise and some hooks will be added soon.

Imwould not put both mugs on the same cart.
I would have the larger one on the cart and the smaller one left to take places

Yes, they are for holding filler rod. I have a different type and size in each one. I designed the cart to hold a plasma on the left of the mig. Also a small water cooler behind them. That is the only picture I have right now. If you want more I will take some for you.

I spent a lot of time building a single cart for my MIG, oxy-acetylene rig, and plasma. I got it all together, rolled that big heavy son of a ***** around the shop once and took it all apart. Just sayin'.

I thought the same, until I put better casters on. I originally thought of puting my oxy/acet tanks on too. I dont use them that much, so why add the weight. I have used both welders at the same time on the same job. It was nice to have everything there all together.

Yea ill be going with a larger diameter caster atleast on one side. Your design is a great one.

Im thinking about making one like yours but with fold out sides that can lock up to do welding, then fold down for storage.

I like that idea of a folding work surface. Just watch out that it doesn't interfere with loading wire and or making polarity changes. Post up your cart as you build and a finished product.

I wouldn't want to work on my welder cart and there are a couple temptations that are hard to avoid. One is some convoluted scheme for dual voltage power and the other is the cord.
Ideally they have a home or if they need to be moved I like the cord hanging on the wall vs the cart. It saves a ton of work, pull machines out to work area and reach back and bring needed cords to the job. In cases where the cord needs to be taken to o0ther locations with the machine then you got no choice but I revamped and no extra cord hangers on the machine.

It all wouldn't be as much an issue in hobby shop but ours sees 100's of hours and decades and some future, after a while you live with it or fix it. We still make some small adjustments in this stuff, not as frequent as when I set it up.

Sberry, great thought on the cord. I have a 50' 6-3 cord made up in case I need to work on something farther than the leads will make it. That SOB weighs quite a bit. I started to hang it on the back around the tanks. It adds a lot more un needed weight and it gets in the way of replacing tanks. Custom jobs like a cart are an ever evolving thing. I've changed or adapted things on this cart a few times and I just built it less than 6 months ago.

I built this one a while back when I had all the welding stuff in one place. Really it is too big. Now TIG is moved downstairs and I am going to downgrade to a smaller cart for the MIG and plasma. Even before then I was planning to split to 2 carts.

I did wire up all the machines to one plug. The idea of having the wire on the wall makes sense, easier to deal with.

I would like to find a narrow box with drawers for supplies that can be a bolt on addition

Actually that's the first multi-purpose one I've seen on GJ that doesn't look at all 'tippy'.

I have a HF kart that is too small for what I need, and the casters (also too small) **** ***. I need to build a new one, but I always seem to have too many projects ahead of it.

I use my 300 synch as a cart for a plasma and a hh210, it reduced 2 carts. There were a couple minor changes since the pics but can hardly improve it much more, it took a while, I was bad at leaving some things where they landed and finally say duh... it can be moved.

I made 2 carts. One has my stick welder sitting under a shelf that holds my Lincoln SP-100 mig. The other, has my Miller Diversion 180 sitting on a shelf above my Miller Spectrum 625 xtreme plasma cutter. Both have a tank at the rear. I wish I had recent pics, but I don't. They take up around 2.5 sq ft each.

Heres mine.

I started off with just the tig with the intentions of putting a few drawers on the bottom. I came across the HHMVP210 sooner than expected and decided it fit nicely. I angled the top to provide a small shelf for the pedal. It rolls on some medical equipment casters I found on Ebay cheap.

Then I discovered that an old craftsman box shelf also fit nicely and it folds up so its not always in the way. I added a few cord hangers made from pipe cut in half and some blanks found at the salvage yard. I made a tig/mig torch holder and although it works well I never use it, which is also why I bolted it on vs welded. I might remove it when i get around to it.

Ive got filler rod tubes to mount still but havent decided on where I want them. I also need to notch the back where the tanks sit. I mistakenly cut it about .5" too narrow and instead of fixing it when I discovered what I did I just kept going. I didnt have a second bottle at the time and still thought I had enough room. I didnt. The plasma cutter should make quick work of it when I get to it.
