Multi-color garage walls

Can the guys please post pictures of painted garages with multicolor walls. IE: a gray top, checkered split line and a blue bottom. I am trying to figure out how I want to paint my walls. I am leaning towards the color combo listed above but want all ideas i can get. I will paint my cabinets with a blue door, silver handle, and black carcass. The floor is going to be epoxy coated checkered pattern. Ceiling will be white. Any input?

Personally I would go with solid walls and use the multi colored cabs as the "draw"... too much going on paint wise can just cause a look of clutter. I actually like the idea of using the cabs as a draw and then a singular (or even two tone) color for the walls so your eye doesn't go nuts trying to find the focal point of the room.

It is a lot easier to find things that have fallen on the floor if it is a solid color.

A lot of changes have been made since these photos, but with these you understand the broad strokes...like I said, its nothing like some of the INCREDIBLE garages we have on this board, but it works for me...for now

IMO it mostly depends on which TYPE of garage you are showcasing.

If it is a working garage. You may want to consider wall/floor coverings that will clean up and take the abuse of oil/grease, welding, grinding and things that will happen there.

If you entertain in your garage. You may want to have a "Theme" color combo , better entertainment tv/stereo, better seating, with a lounge area.

If you do any part of the above . Blend the two ideas in the proportion you need.

IMO , I think design is like clothes. You don't mix plaid with stripes. To much you need solid if it looks busy. I am not sure about White after Labor Day thing.

Thanks, I had fun building the garage.

The red was matched to the red in the border that I designed. (The red came from a Corvette picture.) If you want the color codes from Sherwin-Williams just let me know. The only problem with the red is that it took four coats of paint to cover the primer to my satisfaction. Sherwin-Williams Mgr. said red is one of the hardest colors to use. Personally I felt their paint was the culprit, it just did not seem to cover well.

The floor product is RaceDeck, the interlocking floor tiles. I used four different colors on the design. The tiles are the larger 18” x 18” product. So far I am happy with the product. I had used epoxy in the past but after years went by it developed flaking so I didn’t want to go through that again!

It was posted on another forum deticated to expensive cars. the idea is almost exact. I will have wider space and a lot more cabinets/storage(1000sqft). What do you think of the idea?

I did mine all in High Gloss, the bottom Is Disney Blue because it was the closest match I could find to snap-on's royal blue that was easily wipe up cleanable (made for kids walls). The stripe is High Gloss Black and the top half of the wall is Bright Gloss White to help keep the garage feeling well lit.

I also used Blue, Black, and White Flake between coats of High Gloss Grey epoxy and Clear Epoxy.

I'm a Harley guy so here is what I did. I know it's a bit dark, and maybe not even so much "garage" anymore, but it works well for my purposes, a motorcycle garage / bar / entertainment area combo.

Tony, other than changing engine oil, transmission lube, adjusting the drive belt, and airing the tires there is not much to do on your bike... I have a 2002 HD FXDWG3. Sure looks like a great place to apply a coat of wax on the tank and scrub off the bugs.

Yea....regular maintenance is all they need. Anything "major" I really am not equipped to do myself anyway. I'm glad I haver a good indy mechanic. It's a place to hang out more than anything.

I am sure you are directing this at me (at least partly). First off gunslinger's space is not looking like people are going to be sleeping in it. Secondly it doesn't have a carbon monoxide producing device that I see that someone would use with any common sense in an enclosed space.

Thanks. Love your cars, and where you park them. I'm a Mopar guy myself, I wish they were classics like yours though. I have an '07 Charger SRT8, and an '08 Jeep Wrangler.

Thanks broh, actually those were taken before I put the workbench in. It sits exactly where the chair and roller carts sit in the photos. Like I said, I've added a bit since those photos: new garage doors (triple insulated) a jackshaft style opener and raised the rails for the large door, all in preparation for a lift

For those that painted the stripes, whats the best way to mark, tape, and paint the design? Is it difficult to get straight lines? Do you chalk a line?

I was planning on doing a white top, black stripe, gray bottom. I see one post had a vinyl color stripe, is that better then paint?

Measure, snap a line, check level, tape (optional, depending on how good you are with a brush), paint. Vinyl or paint will hold up well, paint is cheaper.
