you mean breaking a bit handle (bit driver)?
yeah could happen.
a new bit holder costs inexpensive, nothing to be worried bout 🤏
No, the ones for specialized screwdriver blades. The ones that come with a handle and a weird size proprietary blade… I do not like those kinds of tools.

Basically any tool with a proprietary handle and proprietary parts… I do not like tools like that if they can be avoided. We all have a few, though.

I bought the comprehensive KS Tools bit set recently and am disgusted by the long bits. You all know/can see what's wrong with them:

Anywho i was able to hunt down a Festool universal bitholder, the production date code states 2015 which is also the year of release of the Wiha Centrofix, interesting:

Btw Reidl has the Wiha Centrofix bitholder for a measly 15€, so i got that one too (date code 2022 yeehah):

The KS bit quality was bad?
What is the overall length of the Festool?

The long bits have a 1\4" shaft, too thicc argh. Utterly useless as regular Philips PH1 PH2 screwdriver for disassembling mass consumer electronics. The long bits caht reach the screwheads.

Overall length is 149mm, same as Wiha 40331.

My preference is a bit driver, because other then computer use, I tend to keep/use cheap bit drivers for when I need two of the same screwdriver (and am using the actual screwdriver in the other hand), or when I rarely need security bits I own. It is not a primary use tool.

my 4th and hopefully last buy re bits blades mini ratchets topic haha. found this chinese phillips blade set (9pcs, all different) on amzn prime trial:

of course, the mod with the tape and measurements is mine. the blades were a bit dirty (machining dust), so i cleaned them and got inspired to mark the measured diameter on them.

I was lucky to have a rubberized bit compartment from a 3€ ALDI mutitool. It holds 9 bits, exactly as many as from this buy, perfect for ordered storage in the original plastic bag:

They're a rock solid fit in the wiha bitholder. One day I'll also check the quality of the Wera and the Hazet hand bitholders but all yt vids coincide with the Wiha leaving the least amount of play\wobble.

My collection of bits blades holders should be complete with dis new paclet, it's a set of medium-length slotted head bits with thin shafts:

I modded the storage box such that the other felo bit would fit in there too haha:

The main distributor of felo tools in gemani is MTG Müller . They also happen to have the best prices for felo products and very good service thru chat and phone not only email . Will buy from them again, thanks !

quiz question:
re quality, what's wrong in this picture, NE1?
img029f0q.jpg

anywho i got this new(?) precision bit set in the mail, could be similar to the popular "Xiaomi-Wiha" set.
img21xf6j.jpg

while it's got a "PH000" and "PH0000" bit, i woht claim that these are really actual PH000 and PH0000 bits because i got two other precision bit sets, China-made, whose crosshead tips are finer than that.
img17rfum.jpg

back to the quiz question, has NE1 made out the quality issue?

Bits for me so far. I still have not gotten into blades much. I do have the vessel blades. But one thing about the vessel bit set I have seen advertised on Tool Web is that it's missing the T-27 bit. Just something I noticed.

Over many decades of being self-employed, working mostly on yachts, I have found the 6-way screwdriver to be the handiest of all. Of course this needs to be supplemented with numerous bits to fit a drill/driver, plus various individual screwdrivers.
Shown is my general purpose tool kit. Look at the various drivers and bits Have up to 3-foot long drivers. But these do 99% of the work.

@KnurledNut it's the plastic bracket holding the bit holder handle. the two retaining clips are about to crack/break off (see the "white" line) even though the entire stuff is new. cheap plastic, poor construction/design. and once broken off, you caht glue the parts with superglue and restore clipping functionality.

i've backed the clips with hotglue and the bracket still works for clipping the bit holder handle, i.e. the bracket hasn't become too stiff. my first approach was to fill in the air space with hot liquid hotglue and then cut off/remove the excess:
img3u7fmk.jpg

However that failed because the liquid hotglue was too viscous ("too thick") and didn't even get down into the crevice before cooling down on the way down. My second approach was successful though. Just make little thin (solid cold) plates/patches out of molten hotglue, put some normal glue on it, and press it into the crevice, and let the glue dry for a day:
img2c7iuo.jpg

Then trim the excess with a sharp blade or scalpel:

Here a profile view. Realize how cr*ppily thin the original plastic clips of the bracket are:

The mod is completed, now it's time to store this precision bit set away in the closet and never use it. haha :ROFLMAO:

I have handles and dont really need this, especially for $40.
1pc of 40331 for 15€ shipped
just got an camelcamelcamelDOTcom price alert in my email inbox and thought it'd be interesting to share to whoms it may concern:
the amzn price for geman and austrian shoppers has dropped to effectively 12.06€ shipped (= 17.06today + 0.00freeS&H - 5.00coupon) at the time of writing, that is by way of the 5OFF15 coupon for 1st time tryers of the new Amzn Click'n Collect FREE SHIPPING service to your local "amazon hub locker" self-pickup location (coupon limited to the first 12,000 participants):
amazon-new.png

this post is for our reference: that's prolly the lowest price shipped at which a geman shopper could realistically get the item from an etailer. as the price history chart shows, the price is rarely near the ~16€-level AND those 5OFF15 amzn coupons are hard to come by (and they also come with an early expiration date). the two conditions are met now, good news for current shoppers!
btw regular hardware stores doht carry this particular Wiha product in stock, and their typical quote is the MSRP of (currently) ~26€.
1f92f.png
so, 12€ shipped for the 40331 (US part no. is 76000)? — i'd say, nice price!
( please doht overpay for the wiha, if you live in another country, imho it's not worth 20€, 30€, or 40€, agreed )

EDIT 2022-10-20: aaaaaaand it's gone, stock has been depleting fast, at least 7pcs were sold today until amzn went out of stock just now. crazy.
