Will a Craftsman multi tool with the metal grinding attachment work when trying to smooth the concrete on approx. 40-50 feet of stem wall...or do I have to get/rent an angle grinder like you guys use for epoxy floor...

I am thinking of smoothing out the stem wall and then either garage paint or epoxy. I have race deck on the floor already.

I thought I would just leave the stem wall, but everytime I look at it, it bugs me now that the racedeck tiles are laid out.

How rough is your stem wall?

Your best bet is the 1-part epoxy paint. You won't be walking on it so it will hold up great and cost much less than a 2-part epoxy.

Agree with Shea. One installer we know takes our color chart to Lowes or HD and has masonry paint tinted to match the epoxy for the stem wall.

How rough is the stem wall? I don't think a little multi tool will do the job but if the wall isn't that bad you could just use some 60 grit sandpaper and an electric sander to smooth it out and prep it for paint. A grinder with a diamond cutting cup, like what is used on floors, would be hard to control and keep from making gouges in the wall.

I agree with Shea and Scotty you don't need anything fancy for the wall, just concrete paint, or water based 1 step epoxy would do the job.
