Anyone know of a company that makes a multi use shop metal tool, one that can swap head/dies etc. Like english wheel can convert into a plannish hammer etc. I dug around for an hour and can't find anything, but I can't believe there is not someone do this that has a pretty reasonable set up time changing the tooling. I have thought of just making one, but don't feel my skills are good enough. Appreciate any input.

There is one that I have seen, can't remember the name.
Go to the bookstore and look at a copy of home shop machinist or machinist workshop. They used to advertise in there.
Also go to metalmeet.com for more information about machines in general

I don't think a machine exists that would use the same throat of an English wheel and can be configured as planishing hammer as they are pretty different in operation, one as a holder for round bearing'ed anvils, and the other; literally a pneumatic hammer.
Mittler Bros makes an English wheel/ shrinker stretcher and shot bag stand http://www.mittlerbros.com/mittler-...etal-shaper-station/metal-shaper-station.html
dagger tools offers an odd looking hand hammering station http://www.daggertools.com/m5/DTMBF1--metal-banger-forming-station.html

as does trick tools

Ironworkers usually have several functions built into their platforms but are not necessarily for metal shaping, more for punching, shearing, notching, etc.

I don't know about anything else, but the make the coolest tubing "notcher" I have ever seen !

Makes a notch in less than 10 seconds. All manual (leverage). No drills/motors/cutters.

From 1 - 2-1/2 (with different heads). Will notch .134 wall mild steel, .095 wall 4130 (chromoly) and schedule 40 pipe.
