I'm looking to get a backing probe kit for automotive diag, probably the tool aid 23500. Is there a set of test leads that will plug into my multimeter and into the backing probes? I assume the probes are a female 4mm banana plug. All my searches are turning up nothing.

I probably won't be able to find a picture quickly ....

Replace you standard probes with the kind that are removable 4mm banana plugs. Then you can plug on back probes, alligator clips, etc.

Or just spend the money and get Pomona 6530 Deluxe Automotive Test Lead Kit

They probably have the widest selection of probes and test adapters for most things drivability related. If nothing else, you'll get some ideas.

I would just grab a box of paperclips from the office and make my own. A box will last many years.

T pins available in any sewing department would be a better choice as they're pointy and stronger. However, just be careful not to let two pins touch each other is back probing two adjacent pins as you might let the smoke out. :wtf:

Paper clips are too thick

Good suggestions, except for using a paper clip. They are too thick and will booger up the weather pack worse than needed.

When I have access to a wiring harness that’s being replaced or junked I’ll save it, de-pin the connectors and make my own test terminal set. Hell of a lot cheaper than the pre-made kits

That's exactly what I was looking for. The bigger kits are out of my price range for this job though.

I browsed aes and it did give me the right wording for a search that turned up what I was looking for. So thanks for that suggestion.

I wound up with the exact kits jeeper posted before I even saw his post 😎

As for the paper clip recommendation, the engineer in me just says no lol

I later bought this kit because it's got more options for backprobing. Also very handy:

Those are pretty decent and I like the angled ones, but they only fit on an unshrouded male banana end, which limits them quite a bit. I used them a lot until I switched to my most recent fluke set. They'll fit on the leads and seem to seat well, but don't make reliable contact.

I have just the back probes from the first set you linked, and those are stellar. I've bent and twisted and generally mistreated those for the last year and they're still great. I think I'll get a second and maybe third set and put some bends in the pins.
