I thought only the Fluke 11 series was China. Why not a Fluke that's USA made? Or the Klein Mm6000 or MM5000. Those are USA made and pretty reasonable price wise.

Get it repaired.

There's no real substitute for Fluke clamp meters out there.

Some 374's are under recall so Fluke may repair it at no charge. Google it.

Stick with fluke. There is no reason to trust your life to an untried brand. Some guys say that the Klein meters are junk. I don't know I don't own one. You may also want to look at amprobe. They have some really nice stuff

i called fluke, they said it has a 3 year warranty. they said with out a receipt they will look look up the serial number. the serial number is on the outside and is printed on a Chinese sticker with Chinese ink, so obviously there is no serial number left.
from what i understand only the top models in each line are still usa made.
i have no doubt Chinese models modes are made and specked out as high quality possible with Chinese manufacturing. the 374 is not much cheaper than the usa made model it replaced. so your buying a meter made to Chinese quality, employees paid Chinese wages, sold at basically the same cost as the once American made version. fluke profits huge i get an inferior product no thanks!
why would i give business to fluke
fluke also told me they dont repair the meters, they are thrown out. they said if it can not warranty the meter they give you a "substantial" discount on a new meter. he said it retails for 413$ he said they would knock 30$ off ????
not a chance i will try my luck with a German made meter.

i am thinking maybe a metraclip 75

fluke has recalls on most of its Chinese meters some even for shock hazards.
your telling me all of world leading German technology of today is serviced installed ect. by fluke meters ? i don't buy that the Germans cant build a comparable meter for me to service German made equipment with

I've worked with a lot of traveling factory techs from over there, mostly flukes.

The Gossen stuff is nice but not mainstream and pricey.

It may be worth watching some of the videos by Dave Jones at the EEVblog. Google it. It will be the first hit. Videos tend to be lengthy but thorough. Dave is a hoot. A straight shooting Aussie who doesn't pull punches. He has done a lot of Fluke reviews and at lest one Metrowatt. His focus is electronics so accuracy is well documented in the reviews. Definitely worth a look.
