Long time reader, first time to post

Getting my new garage ready to go. Fixing to degrease, etch, and patch the cracks in preparation for coating

I'm looking at using Rustoleum products to coat it. I've read that the "Professional" coating is solvent based and thus it holds up better. I also like the look of the "Garage" coating with the flecks but it is water based. My garage has 2 areas, one where the cars go and one where my workbench and tools are at. I'm considering coating the entire garage with the professional coating then adding a second layer of "garage" coating in the parking area and putting a second layer of the pro coating in the work area. This would let the parking area stand out since it'll have the fleck in it and give me two coats of pro coating where my work takes place.

My question is, will the water based garage coating stick to the solvent based Pro coating?

Don't waste your time researching compatability. Why not just use the pro coating everywhere and purchase the flecks to install where needed? Even if Rustoleum said it was okay to mix and match, I'd still be wary.

I wouldn't mix the two. Rustoleum does make flecks that are used in the Professional coating because Home Depot uses them in the consumer floors they install. Just call up and see if you can order some.

If that doesn't work just order flecks from U-Coat-It or one of the other manufacturers.
