Ok. Let's follow this great Thread. In my opinion, "must own Snap-on tools" are as follow:

1- Hard handle screwdrivers.
2- Ratcheting screwdrivers and T's.
3- Old stock USA pliers (there are a lot yet)
4- Flank Drive Wrenches (USA)
5- Sockets
6- Prybars
7- Maybe a Ratchet Renewal Kit? (I have one as a compliment)
8- Test light (CT2 or similar)
9- Specialty tools (accord to each job,USA only)
10- Dead blow hammers.

how is it every damn snap on thread turns into a COO ******* match?
ive noticed that too. i hang out with 2 deisel mechanics who are very very good at what they do, who try to give me the young gun advice and one thing they always say is snap on is nice but nobody cares where your tools come from as long as your happy with them and can get the job done. just because one guy has snap on and the other craftsman or kobalt means nothing on how good they are as a mechanic. i dont buy tools based on COO i buy them based on getting the job i want done and in my price range

Do you mean "Repair"? or is there a renewal kit? Part#?

The issue is paying the same for a USA tool vs one that was made offshore.

O degree offset double box end specialty(MARKED USA). I use two of them to form a cross to defend myself against accusations of "Treason" by individuals claiming I caused the economic tragedy by purchasing lots of Made In Taiwan stuff.

Yeah, it's the fault of those damn imported tools that the economy is in the toilet and unemployment is sky high. If we all bought exclusively made in the USA tools we would not be in this predicament.

Are the new ratchet screwdrivers still made in USA? I have old and new ones and prefer the older ones generally because the snap on name is etched into the Handel.

A lot of folks say the new ones are painted, I just bought one of the yellow ones off the truck the other day, and it was laser marked just like the standard screwdriver handles. I could see how it might look like paint because the melted plastic sticks up a bit, but this one is definitely not painted as I've heard people say.

That said, the one I got is 2012 production and still marked USA.

Anyways, to OP:

PWCS7 crimper/stripper, there is nothing else like it on the market. One-of-a-kind tool.

47CF slipjoint plier, also a one-of-a-kind tool, has three adjustment points in the slipjoint, and extremely agressive and well cut gripping teeth on the nose.

All silliness aside, those S-o "high performance" wrenches rock like no other.:rocker:

They also don't have to stamp the tool USA if it was made in USA.

You are correct. And I'm not going to pay $88.00 for a Snap On ratchet with out USA stamped on it. Gearwrench makes a decent ratchet too for $14.00.

Exactly! Even cheap tools manufacturers are more honest than Snap on and they mark their tools where are made.
And If both ratches looks the same, performs the same, why I should spend $90 in a brand named?
We always were paying not just for the name, but the reputation of a World Class tool brand proudly MADE IN USA.
I don't understand why some people don't get it. If they don't care if the tool they are buying says USA, why they don't buy HF tools then? Some HF tools doesn't say COO either?;)

If you stamp USA on it, then the people over in one of those anti-American countries won't buy it.

I buy Snap-On because their tools kick ***. I don't give a damn about the USA stamp. Even if their ratchets were made in North Korea I'd still by the SOBs because they are excellent tools. I'm guessing most guys that make their living with their tools would agree, performance is everything. COO is meaningless to me as long as I am getting a tool that will meet my expectations.

Well, I emailed Snap-on and inquired about their recent practice of not stamping USA on most of their ratchets and this is their response:

Due to the fact that Snap-on is a global company, we are printing the company of origin on the packaging themselves instead of the tools themselves.

The thing with that is you only get packaging if you order sets of stuff...

To all the whiners and complainers, tell ya what. If you have so much hate for Snap On and what they stamp on their tools, send them to me. Send me all your Snap On stuff that you don't want, or is not marked in the way you want it. You pay the postage and I will gladly accept it.

I like Snap On tools b/c of the quality and the name behind it. I guess I don't mind paying for a brand name. But unless you buy everything generic you are as guilty as I am too.

IF I BUY ONE IS JUST FOR COLLECTING PURPOSES. BUT DEFINITELY, I WON'T BUY A SNAP ON MADE IN CHINA TOOL! :rocker:

I personally hope that snap on moves overseas. Maybe it will then bring there prices down. I'm sorry but your only paying for a name anymore. there is no way, shape, or form that you can justify $185 for a ratchet when you can buy a different brand i.e. craftsman, kobalt, mac etc. for less and do the same exact job. Most of the guys out there that are neck deep in tool truck debt I think has to do with bad financial choices. I own a 20 plus year old snap on box but I'm looking at an extreme 72" box to replace it, why? because it is a smarter financial move, quality is just as good if not better. I'm sorry but there is nothing to justify the cost of a snap on 72" box.

again I really hope they do move overseas. I'd love to start buying snap on again but i'm not paying them ridiculous prices.
