My $10 Walker Jack

I got this jack for $10 at an estate sale. It was priced $20 I offered $10 done deal. It didn't work at all and then I found out when I got home the lift plate was frozen solid. It had original paint but some surface rust. I rebuilt it and painted it. It was extremely easy to rebuild. The only hard part was the spanner nut which I got off with 2 scraper handles that had square bar shanks. Additionally, I messed up the pivot pin threads due to improper disassembly and a small sledge. I made a new pin on my lathe.

The jack is a Walker 93632 1.5 ton. I believe it was made in 76' due to that date cast into the lift plate carriage.

Price list:
Jack $10
Rebuild kit $35
4 ft 1" CR bar $13
Paint $13
Drive-in grease zerks $4 ( still have to get at McMaster Carr)

Total $75

So for $75 I have a fresh USA made jack that puts imports to shame. Just needed a few basic tools and some hard work cleaning and painting. Rebuilding the cylinder is simple. There is not much at all to it.

Anyone needing a jack buy used and rebuild it youself. It is a great project.

Sorry no before pics.

John

He has some great prices on his Walker/Lincoln smaller jacks, The Hein werner/bigger walkers are Priced a little high. Im curious to how he sell his smaller tonnage kits so cheap.... :headscrat I buy in fairly large quantities to get the best price and I cant sell them that cheap and make enough money to warrant doing it. Maybe i should check into some different suppliers.. :headscrat Then again... They probably have a Very large customer group and can keep prices down due to More sales.

Hiball,

Do you specialize in jacks only, other do you do other hydraulic/pneumatics like air tools, pumps. etc.?

I have same jack, but need new rear casters and can not locate any with the tall c-clip stem. Any ideas? BTW I believe my jack's model is "J122".

I believe you can still get them thru Colson, Last set i bought costs roughly $25 Bucks a side though. Are the bearing shot? Wheels? Normally the stem doesnt go bad and its much cheaper to rebuild the bearing section and/or replace the wheels.

The housing around the wheel seems to have been bent/compressed so that it is making contact with the wheel itself (as if too much weight was applied to smash is down against the wheel). I got this jack at a garage fire sale (literally after a real fire) and do not know its history. I am guessing it is about 40 years old.

Also, when I turn the handle to release its load, it does not come down smoothly like my other jack.
