Ok Guys,

I do not know much about vises, what I do know is Wilton is a good vise. Can someone help me identify this? I found this on craigslist this evening and being nearby I hightailed over there and handed the guy a $100 bill. He did not know anything about it except it was on a angle iron rack on back of a truck he bought. The vise is sorta frozen (slight movement with the handle). It has 3-1/2" jaws and around 17"-18" in length. The worst part about it is, it has been welded to the angle iron rack. I figure I can cut the welds and dress them up with my 4" cutter/grinder. As far as being stuck some PB Blaster or Acetone/Transmission fluid mixture should cure that. The rust is minor and the vise look like it had very little use. I did notice it is missing one of the pipe vise clamp. Are these available somewhere?
I just got home an took the pictures in the dark and have not done anything with it yet.

Shame about the base. Tip, don't be afraid to hack up the plate, leave some extra on the cast base and then carefully grind it down as to not gouge out the original casting.

Congratulations on a great find!

Be sure you free the vise up without using the handle. I had a rusted stuck Wilton C1 where the previous owner had sheared the heads from the three small screws holding the horseshoe washer to the dynamic jaw. This is a common problem with Wilton vises. See the vise thread for tips on this.

My C1 was heavily rusted and freed it up by first giving it the electrolysis treatment, soaking with Kroil, then pulling the vise apart using a High Lift jack with a Jackmate attachment. It's certainly do-able and a fun challenge!

I just got done restoring a C0 just like that. Try to save the swivel base, but if you cant, at least the vise wasnt welded to the base.
