My 12x20 project

Bench frame is done less the supports for the tool box and parts cabinet. Hooked up the third light. I'm considering turning that one 90degrees and adding another light to the right of it but honestly I think this is plenty of light for now. I may move the middle light back closer to the attic opening





This little guy keeps it cozy in here for the time being.



Also installed the thermostat and outlet for my cadet 4kw heater

Alright last update for today. Put every faceplate on, hung cabinets, put the tool boxes where they will end up, temp mounted my vise (cheepo for now while I wait to find an old one I want to restore) and put the 3/4"ply + 1/8" hardboard bench top on. Above the red box will be a wood plate with a hole of some sort where the end of my hose reel will come out. The drill press will sit on the left side

So I went out in the shed this morning and noticed the hardboard "grew" I had screwed the corners down of the 3 pieces of hard board and 2 out of the 3 were bowed up in the center. Any idea why? The hardboard grew which seems odd because if anything it's colder in the shed

The shed is looking great. Keep up the great work. I don't have a answer for you on the hard board but i had the same thing happen to me.

osb expands if its humid and the humididty has changed a little over the time you installed it and more than likely the floor is not sealed ( plastic underlay ) under the concrete and its wicking the water up . and your using a propane heater which dumps moisture in the air also

The OSB is fine. I was talking about the thin hardboard I put on my bench for a replaceable top. The propane heater doesn't run much and it dries out in there pretty quick with the winter air.

hardboard does the same as its layers of paper glued and pressed together . my reloading bench has hardboard on it I only secured the back edge to keep it from puckering when it gets humid out ( I live in the Illinois river valley near Channahon ) and it stays humid year round due to the water table . I built another bench that the top floats on the top the edges are secured by aluminum angle trim only nailed to the side of the bench

. I am suprised the osb didn't pop too , but they have gotten glues better over the years . the old stuff ( 1980's) I pulled down was starting to flake apart and bowed real bad . ( replaced it with 5/8 Gyp x board . )

Got this clearance husky cab assembled and hung. I would not recommend this to anyone. Very light duty and a pain to assemble. IMO it's still too much money at the $45.03 I paid for it.

Finally started moving my stuff in today. Really need to wait til everything is in before I start figuring out what else I need for storage. Also mounted my heater (although by the time I will be able to power it it will be warm enough to not need it)



You can see my little temp radiant heater in there (trying to avoid pumping the water in with the propane burner)

I also dialed in the new table saw making this little mounting bracket out of some scrap poplar wood I had. Used some left over carriage bolts and recessed them into the back of the wood and some counter sunk deck screws to mount it to the stud. Put a 30 degree bevel on all 4 sides just for fun




This coming weekend my first project will start in there (barn door babg gate for the stairs)

Got around to mounting my monitor and Asus chromebit today. This is going to be a sweet little setup for a garage computer.

Let the sawdust fly today, almost done building this baby gate. Then I just need to stain it and hang it in front of the stairs



Used pegged 1/2 lap joints for the 4 corners of the frame. The slats on the back are glued/brad nailed on.

Yeah that's the concept.

No real plans for the porch. Although it'll be a good spot to do the messy work instead of inside.

I love it and yep it is super quiet. So far it has been worth the money

All done til I trench in the power. Now it's time to tackle getting the attached garage set up so I can get the wife's car in. Still might shove some of this stuff up in the attic. Just want to see how often I use everything.

I have one in the garage and work truck; A quart bottle with a teaspoon or two of Dawn in water does wonders for cleaning and rinsing hands and whatnot.

Also, I saw your heater. A 20g tank heater works great with a cheap clamp-on fan. ...You'd be amazed how well it works.

Nothing really. Once the weather cools off and work slows down I'll put on the finishing touches out there.

Well I finally trenched for power/cable.

8 hours later here is how it looks



Ran 1-1/4" for the power (6 ga for a 60 amp service) and 1" for a coax so I get TV

Power wires are pulled. Just need to terminate everything tomorrow and then put the landscaping back together. Pull string is in the 1" but I haven't pulled to coax yet

The power wires are all pulled and then I covered it up. I didn't pull the coax but the string is in there and it shouldn't be a big issue

Going to watch this build.. I too have a small space to play with and love to see how creative people on here get to use every inch of it.. I'm lucky as mines built with cinder blocks on solid rock and tends to stay a constant temp all year round.. if it does get really cold then 5 minutes with an electric fan heater heats it for hours..

Admittedly I rarely come up with a great idea on my own. Most are stolen from this site. But it is fun finding ways to make he most of a small space. Fortunately I have a 2 car garage attached to the house to store most of the junk. This is a space more or less just for me. It also doubles as my "office" when I work from home.

Well had some stupid "must listen but not participate" type conference calls today. Got the power terminated in the house and shed so now I have full power. So nice with every outlet working and being able to run just about everything I have in the shed at the same time if I want.

Also during those calls got most of one wall primed with the first coat.

You need one of these for the entry door. Keeps the wind from slamming it closed. I mounted mine high to keep it out of the way. Unless you're gonna put a bench on that wall, I'd just mount it to the bench.
