Hey All,
Nice to see so many of you gearheads, vintage freaks and tool whores posting your great stuff! I am an architect by trade, gearhead by choice and freak by nature. I also have a BFA in Sculpture with metalwork being my medium of choice. So, a shop was a no brainer for me. It's not huge by any means, but enough that I can do what I need to do. If any of you are iron mongers I highly recommend a book that was inspirational to me. It is "David Smith by David Smith". One of THE most influential sculptors of the 20th century and an Iron monger to the core!
I have been lurking for a while, but actually took pics of my shop and wrote a blurb a while ago. I just found the original pics, before a recent cleanup and I am looking for the rest to put on the thread. I thought I would post these as "before" shots even though I have been occupying for 15+ years. It's actually after a dormant stage. Mine and my sons hockey obsession took over for a while. Your inspiration had me out there cleaning up so I can actually move around, through, and produce once again.
As a side note, my gearhead hobbies are air-cooled motorsports. Particularly vintage and non-vintage VW's and British motorcycles. You'll see a '68 Triumph Daytona in pieces around the shop, a '72 Snortin' Norton Commando hiding underneath and an engine replacement for my '90 Westfalia camper. All on the ot do list that is impossible in the shops current condition.
More to follow............
