My $15 servicing cart. It's almost unbelievable.

So the wifey-to-be wanted to go shopping on the day after Christmas. I agreed, mainly because it would allow me to pay a visit to Sears and check out their sales as well. Long story short, I picked up most of the standard wrenches I'm in dire need of for The Amazing Workshop (just need a few more to finish it out). After we left, we noticed that a Blockbuster Video was going out of business and everything was 75% off - total liquidation.

The Liquidating Blockbuster:

While I was sorting through the few dozen titles that were actually left (mostly stuff my daughter might enjoy.. as well as an old godzilla movie I was very happy to find... I stumbled across this:

Needless to say, I pulled it to the side to get a better look at it:

There was another rubbermade cart there that might end up coming home in the next day or so, but I asked the guy if this one was for sale. It's a nice, heavy duty cart. I'm not sure of the maker, but it's built like a Kennedy tool chest with a very similar finish. The guy working fumbled around for a bit, and said "I'm not sure I have the key for it, but.. how about $15?"

Needless to say, I carted home my spoils immediately thereafter:

I have stopped in several movie places that are closing up. Picked up a few good things, missed some others. But nothing that good. You ****!

What's the small block on the right hand side of the drawer face?

I have no idea. It doesn't seem to serve any real purpose. It just screws on, and doesn't cover anything, so I'm not sure what it's for.

I think you got your moneys worth. If they didn't have a key, a Craftsman lock may fit in it's place.

I picked up a replacement at Lowes (for now), but I'll probably call Sears with my key code and order the same lock as my tool box.

I live right by a Borders that was closing. They had lots of heavy tables that would have been good for the kids to destroy. They all sold off at a price higher than I was willing to pay.

It usually depends on the liquidator. In this case, the Blockbuster was independently owned and had reached the end of its lease on the property. There was a shuttered Exxon station across the street and a vacant former grocery store on the same lot as the Blockbuster. Since it sat on the edge of town, right before heading into a residential area, there really wasn't a reason to stop there unless you absolutely had to see a certain movie. It was a pretty small store to boot.

When MovieGallery went into liquidation, I got some pretty good deals there. A brand glass-front pop machine went for around $100. When Quality Farm & Fleet went bankrupt, my dad bought enough fencing to enclose a 10 acre feed lot for something like $20.

Great score! Indeed, thou sucketh!

Let us know if you get the other cart, and any other goodies they might have in the back of the store. Who knows, you might work out a package deal on stuff that makes this pale in comparison! LOL

I didn't end up going back. Their last day is tomorrow and I'm in the process of settling a civil suit (WINNING). If anyone wants to grab up the other one, here are the store details:

Blockbuster
1233 13th Street, Ashland, KY
