Well did alittle work in the garage this weekend.
I had some money saved up that i was gonna spend on the garage but my cat got sick and all that cash and then some went to him... fricken cat.

Anyways i wasnt happy with my welding table so with just stuff laying around the garage and zero cash spent i came up with this. Its not done as alot of my metal tools and another bench will be added to this area. Pipe bender, grinder, vice, and a few other things need to be added while the tool boxes need to be moved to back wall.
Idea is to keep all welding and metal work away from everyting else, i have a few ideas i wanna try.

old setup.

I gotta make jigs and etc to build about 5 more of these cars so it'll be awhile.
Pipe bender came in and a few other things.
Gotta pick up the mazda mx5's too.

Building tube frame cars aren't very easy as I'm finding out lol.

I have 5 right now but I've owned over 20 at one time before :D.
I'll never be like that again.

I only have my bug parked outside right now so i have nothing to worry about.
I can fit about 6 cars inside the garage if need be though.

I was about to pick up a old 70's vw rabbit but had to put that off. Plus I really need to spend whatever little cash I have on the blue Datsun.

The Miller is mine, the Hobart is my friends.
I don't care for it, but I weld for a living.

He builds some nice things with it, but it just doesn't have the range like a miller does.
It's a 110 though.

I think he paid $200 for it so it's deff a steal but then again he had to upgrade the gun and etc to miller parts.

I'd save up and get a good (even used) miller mig.
I'm about to sell a nut to get this miller TIG that I've been needed for awhile now.

Man, that is a great garage with some really nice cars. I used to have a 71 Z similar to yours but I knew very few people who worked on Z's in S.FL. I did most of the work in my front driveway. I got rid of it after 8 years and lots of frustration and moved on to E30's.
Now we have a house and I need to make time for our new projects. Where in FL are you? I need someone with welding skills.

Mike is Z-Docs still there in Tampa ? I worked there many many many years ago . They were the ones who started dropping 350's into Z cars and also did alot of can-am wide body cars while I was there. They were around Fletcher and Florida ave as I recall.

I'll throw up some pics of the house and exterior today after work.
From the street you can't tell how big it is.

i forgot i made this thread, heres a few updates.

A lot has changed.

I first did this, as i had a couch in the garage, with a big screen tv and full home theater setup.

it was like this for 2 years maybe more, but i ran out of space. Adding another car to the collection and more welders and tools just killed work flow.

So just redid the garage abit.
Gotta remember i havent spent a dollar (except for the peg board) on this garage. All work benches are doors from my work that were getting scrapped. Same with pretty much everything else. Saves whatever little money there is for the cars.... and wife.

Great space, very personal workshop. Love the VW closet hahaha. That's where the real deep thinking takes place.

That's my clean room... Where I redid my 8v head and worked on my old bugs motor.
I forgot to add a pic or 2 of the other work bench area with my old lathe and oven and so on.

Thanks. It's running pretty good now. I just need to get it legal.

Sweet, can you give us some info on it? I love old Z's. Looks like you've got an RB engine sitting there in the shop. Did you do any kinda crazy engine swap in the Z?

That's the miata 1.8 for the Exocet that you see.
The Z has a 82 280zx L28ET. I made a custom turbo setup that mounts in front of the motor, kinda like old Grand nationals. The exhaust exits thru the front air dam. turbo is off a big Cummins Diesel and it's running a standalone ecu.
I honestly only have $1300 in the whole motor setup, including the engine and transmission. Low boost is 12lbs, street boost without the Meth is 22lbs and high boost with the meth (all on 93pump gas) is 35lbs.
Hoping for low 10's, even though it's setup for road racing.

It's funny, it's the fastest car in the garage and only one without a roll cage.

Wow, nice setup! Sorry that engine looked awfully like a Nissan RB. Its even better that you don't have a lot of $$ ******* in the motor. Forced induction setups can get pricey quick if one is not careful. You should start a thread on the car here somewhere!

Ya I might. When I start working on it again.
So sat down with a buddy and did some math.
I looked over everything in this garage and I honestly only have maybe $150 bucks.
Everything was pretty much free or other peoples junk.
Pretty crazy.

Thanks. Green one is in the process of being stripped and junked. Such a shame. I've owned that car since I was 16. I'm 30 now... Car was perfect, then stolen by a friend and stripped of all my parts and engine and etc. sad sad sad.

Blue z is my budget build... Much like my garage.
