Looking awesome! Or as they say in Southern New England..."Lookin' wicked good". I'm originally from Providence, RI (Federal Hill to be exact). Left in '86 to join the Army and never moved back. I do like to visit every now and then.

Thanks for the positive comments. I am pretty happy with how it is coming out. A "wicked pisser" garage indeed :)

Made more progress tonight. Three of my four boys were home, so I had to take advantage of the available help.

Fourteen 1/4 inch lag bolts later, and we are ready to go.

I love these cabinets!

Tomorrow I should get the rest of these hung, and then I can put the base cabinets back where they belong.

I ordered a couple of 10 foot sheets of plywood this weekend, hopefully they arrive tomorrow. I am going to lay up two 1/2 inch sheets to create a 1 inch top. The goal is to get everything out of the tent and into the garage before there is real snow on the ground. Hopefully I have another week or two of good weather.

Very nice redo on the garage, definitely brought it up to date and those cabinets matched with the floor look great!! Keep up the great work and don't forget to keep us updated with more pics!

The cabinets are all up! Some small adjustments to the doors left to do, but at least I can see the final setup.

Hopefully, the plywood for the bench top shows up today.

Is there anyway you can put lights in the bottom of the spacer you made for the uppers? They could project light onto the lower work surface.

Got my 10 foot plywood sheets yesterday. Ripped them down 30 inches wide, and glued them together to make a 1 inch thick top. Once I recharge the bank account I will have this wrapped in stainless.

Time to finish the floor, and then I need to move back in.

Decided I needed to close off the gap between the large cabinet and the back wall.

Down to trimming the last of the tiles. Hopefully I can get close to done over the holiday weekend.

I built a backing rail to attach the cabinets to. The concrete apron wall was not square, or plumb, so wall mount was not an option. I am using the legs from Dean at Saber, but each cabinet is attached to the back wall via 2x6, and 3 inch deck screws. The tall cabinet really needs to be attached to the wall somehow.

There is more than the one 2x6 supporting the tall cabinet. I built a box frame similar to the one I used for the upper cabinets. It is about 28" square, and allows several (6) attachment points for the cabinet to the wall. This also created a point to nail my fill panel to close off the hole.

Progress continues. I had to laugh. Within 10 minutes of placing the bench top, it was covered in stuff. Clean, horizontal surfaces have their own gravity :).

So this is why the cabinets don't go all the way across -

I finished up the last of the cuts on the Race Deck.

I have one Husky cabinet on the side that will be my wife's garage storage - mostly gardening stuff. I cleaned up my old floor fan, and hung it up out of the way where it can keep the air moving.

I did a little clean up, and pulled some of the decorations I had squirreled away in the wife's living room. It is beginning to look like I am almost there.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I certainly have plenty to be thankful for this year.

Outstanding RD flooring! How well does a heavy tool chest move across the Race Decking floor? I'm still debating utilizing this down on my garage floor. I have a third spot for a vehicle, but with the layout of my garage I'm not sure if the RD flooring would hold together (cutting the wheels on my vehicle), since I'm pretty much parallel parking my third vehicle into it's location. Any thoughts?

Cheers!

I have only had the car in and out a couple of times, but the tile doesn't move. No problem moving toolboxes at all. The tile seems pretty tough, and I have a couple of spare tiles if one gets damaged.

Working through some compressor installation issues. I have a filter and regulator that I got with the compressor (all IR). I built up a manifold in 1/2 inch copper, and a board to mount it to. For now, the goal is to get it installed and running. I will plumb a distribution network down the road. I think I am there, except for the power cord. Hopefully getting this done will be next weeks accomplishment :).

And of course, I had to paint it before it went up on the wall.

I also picked up some 5 inch red head fasteners to mount the compressor to the floor. Also pick up some vibration pads, so I think I am good to go.

Finally emptied out the tent in the driveway. I felt like I was running out of time, needing to have this down and put away before the snow flies. It looks like another week of good weather, but I am happy to have the tent put away. The garage is a little crowded now, and I need to find a home for some more stuff. No problem moving the engine hoist on the race deck, and not a mark from moving this around.

Getting this engine (and the TKO600 transmission) in the black F100 is the first real project in the renovated garage. I hope to move the truck inside for the winter next weekend.

I finished up installing the compressor. I used some 5 inch redheads to bolt it down, and some vibration pads to reduce the noise. The pads make a big difference, and I am surprised how quiet the compressor is when running. These were inexpensive ($17 on Amazon for 4) but they stank to high heaven. They had a real strong rubber smell - probably why they were cheap. I let them sit in a bucket outside for week, and most of the smell is gone. They are quieter than running the compressor on the pallet, and I don't think it will be difficult to live with the noise. It takes a few minutes to fill the 60 gal tank, but it produces a lot of air, and I think I am going to be really happy with this.

I finished the plumbing for the filter and regulator. There is only one hose right now but I will add some real, wall mounted airlines with 3 or 4 drops and a hose reel for the driveway soon. I have plans for a blast cabinet, and a lift in the future, so I will run the air drops I need for these future improvements then.

I made a wood top for an old rolling toolbox my dad gave me when I was a teenager. Some of the stickers on this box are 40 years old. Eventually I will have the drill press, a grinder, and a vise attached to this top. I found an old power strip with a long cord that I will mount to the back. Its nice to be able to push this all outside when its time to make a mess drilling and grinding.

I also made up a cart for some plastic drawer units. This is mostly for towels, rags, and detailing supplies. It also hides the stuff piled up in the storage area under the stairs into the house. Once the ladders are gone, the blast cabinet will cover the rest of the opening to the area under the stairs.

A good week of progress on the garage. A few more details, and then it's time to clean it all up and take some vanity shots. Picked up a jug of Mop and Glow for the floor today. Hopefully I can get done (is it ever really finished?) over the Christmas holidays.

Hope everyone has a great Holiday!

So the holidays are over, and it was time to batten down the hatches for the rest of the winter. I ran over schedule, but I still managed to get everything squared away.

The compressor is set, and I hung an electric heater to warm the place up on cold days. I managed to push the F100 inside before the snow. It is a little crowded, but hopefully I will get some work done on the truck this winter.

So I went out today, turned on the heat, and went to work.

I installed the clutch, bell housing and then the ******. This is an 89 mustang 302 with about 80,000 miles, and a new midshift TKO 600.

Time to start mocking up the engine mounts. I will also be hanging a new brake and clutch pedal with firewall mounted master cylinders. This should keep me busy for the rest of the winter.

So far the RaceDeck has been great, and I am still really happy with the cabinets.
