So I found this board doing a google search and have seen some amazing garages. I've always wanted to have a garage that looks like a living space so decided to get it done. I live in the city of Chicago and we have the standard 2-car garage, although I think mine may be a little smaller.

The garage went from just a barebone to walled up and tiled in 1 weeks time. It's not completely finish as I'm waiting for the electrician to come over and wire up more outlets. I opted out of insulation because i won't be in the garage all winter long. The cars stay in for hibernation.

This is what we started with.

We got all the plywood up except for the area by the electrical stuff.

Walls primered up in preparation for paint. Went with a 2 tone color scheme

The paint is going on.

Floor tiles are laid on. They are pretty dusty, but a mop will take care of that. I went with the moto floors from costco.

Here are a few pics of the garage somewhat cleaned up and the cars that will be hibernating in there. When spring time comes around, I'll start organizing everything

22x20 in the middle of a huge urban area? Wow, that's quite a luxury, and I'm sure many guys are envious. Especially after that refurbishing. Great job!!

The project looks good so far. You will find the garage will always be a work in progress. Every time I think I'm done life puts a wrench into things.

Garage Looks great! What flooring product did you go with and why? Is it a PVC or a poly product? Where did you get it from?

Thanks for the help!

Cars look good in the their new HOME!

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Mayor, I already understand what you mean. I have all these thoughts running through my head about what else I can do to it. The possibilities are endless.

Brad, I picked up the craftsman tool chest during black Friday 2007 and I would say it's a good chest for the price but I'm looking at getting a better one. This one is not ball bearing and does become a hassle when you start packing on the tools. I highly recommend getting a ball bearing one.

I've been pondering about doing the ceiling but in the meantime, I will leave it exposed like that. Maybe when spring time rolls around I'll look into it.

Can you post a pic of the outside, with the roof in the shot.

Did you build the hip roof or a contractor?

I guess I should be more clear I was talking about the upper two door cabinet. :)

Bought that on Black Friday 2008. Great cabinet. Plenty of storage space for my car care stuff.

uparms, the roof was contractor built. I'll try to get a pic for you.
