So this is it. I really wish Id come here about 4 months ago. The first thing I learned was my concrete guy sucked. That was 6 years ago. My 24x24 pad was a patio til this last fall. Its wavey and made the build more of a challenge.
I did 90% by myself. I had help with the trusses and the beam over the door. I built the walls in 12 foot sections so I could raise them by myself. I didnt have a plan for windows so I just put in a big header while I waited for a good deal that never came. Kate is by far the best help Ive had, shes 6 and brutally honest :) Roughing in the outlets and decided to install another window. Might buy it and cut it out tomorrow. It has nice storage in the roof. I bought spreadweb trusses. Why I dont know. Just sounded like a good idea. I have gotten alot of great ideas from you guys! I plan to insulate and osb the walls, the ceiling has osb now. I have a few more lights to hang and cords to staple after paint. Im hoping posting here will help pull me out of the burnout phaze Im in with the garage right now.

Lookin good so far. Same size as my garage, it gets small quick when you start putting stuff in it.

Looking good so far. Is that a lightning rod I see on the house? Lightning issues?

They have been on the house my whole life. The house belonged to my great grandparents. Then grandpa/grandma now me. I just kept them up there when I reroofed. Id like to get the glass balls for them, but they are kinda pricey. Or atleast the ones I have found.

looks nice. You're at the point I was 1 year ago. I did vinyl siding myself and it was actually pretty fun once you get started. I assume you are going to do vinyl to match the house.

To answer the questions.
Its a 6/12 pitch thats about all I wanted to shingle :)

Yes itll be gray vinyl like the house. The breezeway will get enclosed and Will be shingled with those vinyl shake shingles to blur the elevation differences. Or so thats the plan.

Mine was 14 yards. Its about 5 inches thick with 1ft by 1ft around the perimeter. I had it poured 6 years ago for 1700 bucks total. But the guy wasnt the greatest.

Budget so far from what I remember.
trusses 1080
garage door 650 16x7
windows 300 for 3
opener 200
entry door 110
shingles tarpaper starter and flashing ect. 900
walls studs, sheeting and roof sheeting with other misc wood 900-1000
slab 1700 the only thing I didnt do.
ceiling 140
lights 225
thats about it.

Yep the door is 16x7 thanks
Time with the boss priceless. I found some pictures from the beginnng. Everyday the building inspector/boss/daughter came home from kindergarden she headed straight for the ladder.

That's a nice size modest garage. Granted we all would like a huge garage, but sometimes a nice size two car is what we all need. I wish my 20x20 was 24x24 all the time. That extra four feet in both directions would be so nice when I'm trying to work on the car.

Even better, it sounds like it's good bonding time with you and your daughter.
Keep posting updates when you can.

Nice build. Keep up the progress and very soon you will be done.

I have been in the process of completing insulating my 2 car which is about the same size. Its taken 2 months to get it all insulated but I'm sure you'll agree, it is very satisfying to do it yourself.
