I learned a long time ago to call the garage a shop. When I called it a garage, my wife seemed to think that was a place to park. Silly girl.. You don't park in the shop, you play er...um... you WORK in the shop.

This is about a year old and I have moved a few things since. Mostly I moved the lathe and mill up against a wall to reduce the number of shavings that get all over.

This is my workbench. It started as 2x4 construction with two layers of plywood on it. Soon It was getting destroyed, so I covered it with some .065" hot rolled steel. That has been great and it is easy to clean.

This is my catch all. It seems like everything that comes into my "shop" ends up landing here. I can't ever seem to get this spot clean.

This corner used to be the catch all for big items. I have long since sold that old lathe and made this the sheet metal/fiberglass work station. I put in a shear and brake. The box with the dart board on it is a fold open fiberglass work station with storage for the glassing stuff.

This is the machining corner that has been chaned around a little. But you get the idea.

My lathe that I bought form Enco. I love it and work with it all the time. I would reccomend Enco to anyone that asks.

My mill that I bought form Lathemasters. I love this tool too. It just can't be beat for the money.

This is my machine area workbench. It is an old bowling alley. It weighs a ton but it works great.
DSCN0248.jpg

This is my brake lathe and harbor freight bandsaw. I have worn out that little saw and upgraded to a 7x10 bandsaw with coolant. The little one earned its keep over and over again. I almost never used my chop saw when I got it.
DSCN0249.jpg

This is my welding area. I made a low table because I always seemed to be building something that was too tall to use on a normal bench. I just sit on a stool if it is a low project.
DSCN0250.jpg

My parts cleaner, press and a flywheel surfacer that some one gave to me. It needed lots of love, but now it earns money.

My low lift. It works great. I just wish that when people build garages they would put in taller ceilings. This building was here when I moved in. 9'4" is all I have for clearence. At least I can move this lift around and it makes a nice portable workbench when I need. Well I hope you liked it.

Yes, I do work in this shop so I can earn money to buy more tools and play in the shop. In fact this has been my day job for about 8 years now. I love it. I pay someone to work and earn me money by day and I play by night and weekend. Vary layed back.

Gladly, I will be sending them C.O.D. I look forward to shopping and getting new ones. With all that I have learned about tools over the years, I hope to not make the mistake of wasting money one poor ones. I can tell you that I started investing in Snap On tools when I was in School. The ROI with those tools has been better than any savings acct. Plus I got to learn many many new things.

Great shop! As a former tool & die maker, I'd love to have some of that stuff in my new shop when it is finished!

Have fun with it!

Very imrpessive . I have a decent Mill and lathe that just sits there un used. I had a customer who is a machinist come in and go thru all of the tooling to see what I need to get started. That thread sure gives me some inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, you guys are way to kind. Your shops are absolutely beautiful. If you want ideas on how to pack 10pounds of **** in a 3pound container, then I am the man for you. I try to minimise the steps I have to take. That is how everything is kind of layed out. Right down to a second set of tools that are used near the machine side of the shop. You know it is a long walk across a 28foot shop. At least it feels like a long walk after you make 50 trips in a day.

Great shop -- very impressive. I also saw your tube bender thread -- that hydraulic bender is a work of art!

Excellent --
