Just getting started with my 36x48x14 pole building. This has been in the planning stage for a while, I've finally found the time to get started. It is next to my house which is nice but also created a few obstacles! I have over head power to my house and it had to be moved, so when I excavated for my pad I put in the conduit and built a new meter base for a 400 amp panel with a 200 amp panel for my barn which was already underground. I excavated 20" down then hauled in 11/2" minus spec and used a 14,000 lb vibratory roller for compaction. I still have a little to finish to bring it to the final sub grade then 2" of formular 250, pex, rebar and 5" of concrete.

I would suggest that you up load pictures to an album here and then copy the BB code to insert in your posts. If you click on my name it will take you to a screen where you can see my albums. Unfortunately my build is not in an album.

It sounds like your building the same building I built below.

They are in my photos on my iPad. I go to manage my files and use the upload feature, when I select "upload" I get a failed to upload message.

Mine were failing trying to upload from my Iphone too. I had to upload from my Iphone to Google Photos (cause I refuse to let Itunes own my computer), then download from Google Photos to the computer, then upload them back to this forum... Yeesh what a convoluted mess, but it works.

He's trying to load them here, that is the issue. The site doesn't like something with apple products (seemingly since both he and I have the same issue using apple products). And I'm betting he doesn't have a Photobucket account, but if he did he'd have to pay now to imbed photos in forums.

Unless he has ITunes on his comp so he can sync his photos to it he's stuck working around this forum issue as I have said. Between Apple holding your stuff hostage, Photobucket doing much the same, and the error loading photos to here with an apple product, posting photos is a bit of a chore.

D94R, thanks for the explanation. I knew it's an issue using apple. I do have them synced on my MacBook computer. I will try uploading them from it.

If you want to imbed the photos so we can all see them in the thread then click each photo in the album and at the bottom of that page is a BBcode box with the image

Copy that entire line and past it into your post. It's easiest if you have this thread open in one tab, and your album open in another so you can switch back and forth easily.[/QUOTE]

Perty much exactly how I do it. Two tabs open. You can also link your album address in the posts so you con't have to move every picture from your album to the post, just refer members to the album to see all your pictures.

I looked in your album and it is looking good.

Thanks Larry,

Nothing new to show yet, waiting on trusses. got the power moved yesterday and started backfilling some of the electrical trench. Will probably start putting in some girts next week when I get home and finish the sub grade while I wait for trusses.

Modoc,

I can see you are still having some issue posting photos so please forgive me for editing "IMG" in your last post but I added the other 3 photos to that post so you can now explain to us all what is going on. Looking good by the way.

Thanks mate, this picture thing is a pain in the ****!

Very nice. I see you are building the same size as me including a 14' ceiling. Interesting to see how build styles differ from building to building. What size are your roll up doors?

On the front gable end (as in the picture), 14'x12' and 14'x12' on the back in the center is a 12'x10'

Nice work, Modoc. Regarding your previous question about taping seams on foamular, if that's the foam panels you are laying down under your slab, I didn't tape mine at all. I just made sure they were tight up against each other.

^ same, I just made mine all nice and flat and tight. And then threw a 6-mil plastic sheet (vapor barrier) over all of them.

Ok, so I know it's been awhile. I have finally finished the roof, set the posts for the two man doors and started setting the splash board to pour the floor. It has been a slow process because of my work schedule. Finishing the roof was a major milestone it was a real **** kicker but it is very gratifying to have it finished and it turned out vey nice. I had never done a roof before so I watched some Youtube video's and followed the directions on the shingle bundles and it really looks nice. How ever I don't know that I would ever take it on again.

I have a roofing guy that says he can do a roof for only a little more than I can. Its well worth it in my book. He gets a discount on the shingles and they are delivered to the roof. Plus, he gets done in 1-2 days and the old roof debris is gone.

I have plans for a 36x48 garage upon retirement.

Looking forward to seeing how you use the space.
