I have a big drywall job to tackle on the house so I have been watching CL for a deal on a Porter Cable Drywall Sander. Looked last hight and saw an ad for one, with some extras. Went and got it today:

I inventoried and priced it, and here's what I have...

Except for one pad and one sanding disk, all the consumables are new and unused. I paid $200 for all of it. If I bought the sander new I would have had to buy the consumables anyway (and maybe more) so I really only paid a little over $70 for the tool - which is like new, BTW. I think I did OK...

WOW - over 150 hits and not a single comment? Did I tick everybody off or something?

We have 2 of these sanders with the vac at work. They make for fast and somewhat dustless sanding. They have a learning curve till your used to them.
It's very easy to sand off to much in a very short time. You did get a great deal on the price.

I'm almost done framing my basement and wondered if I should get one of these as I hate sanding. I can never get away without sanding, though I've watched our builder put a really thin coat on and then barely sand it to make it smooth. I tried copying his technique but wasn't able to get it working for me.

The house is just over 3000 sq.ft and I will have to cut each 8ft piece of drywall in half to get it down into the basement so I'm looking at double the number of joints too :(

That ***** several ways. Not only do you have twice the number of joints, but only half of them will be recessed. The others will have to be built up and feathered out.

I don't envy you.
