Greeting from California, I love seeing how things are built in other parts of the world, brick construction is never done where I live. That's a really nice garage, love the tile. A good way to clean those sockets up is to soak them in vinegar it will take the rust off in a couple of days. My wife's daily driver is a 2013 Jetta TDI we like it a lot.

Thanks for the welcome bud, if I have the opportunity to go to the States it would have to be sunny California!

We have very limited timber supply, thus it is very expensive and hard to come by (in the means of having to drive a minimum of 500km to get a supplier). Timber framed houses are non existent, but log cabins are on the rise, we have more blue gum (saligna) than pine, so they use the poles, CCA treat them (you call it pressure treating) and build the whole construction out of it. But even that is more expensive than bricks.

That is a good tip, I will get a bottle today and chuck them in and leave for a few days. They look bad, but am sure they can be put to good use.

My Jetta is a old lady now, 175k km, about 105k miles, time to trade and get the G6.

Sheesh, $300 seems steep. But thus far it seems like a superb tool. Used it once, super easy and user friendly. Will be becoming one of my most used tools.

It's a Kreg jig. You can get the "master" system with all the bells and whistles at Lowes for $139. It's a great little tool, built all my shop cabinets, drawers, etc, with it. Strong and easy joints, and very easy to setup.

I am finished with my tool cabinet, although the runners need some fiddling, they not working as advertised. Seems like i need about a 3mm spacer on either end to make them fit snug and run the way they should.

Kreg jig for $300? Like the previous poster said, the complete package sells for $139. There are quite a few clamps and other whistles that can also be purchased for it. Better yet, print off a 25% HF coupon and get a good discount on one like I did!

Nice looking tool cabinet, does that double as your toolbox?
You can say it does. I will be making me a dolly type trolley like a butchers block to take out all the tools i will be using and then just put them back when I am done.

Thank you for the compliment.

Wow, what an amazing place. I was in Johannesburg once but that wasn't enough - I love the threads from other countries. It's great to see the different materials and landscapes. Nice work on the garage.

Thank you for looking.

We so live in a beautiful place and take it for granted most of the time.

Thread resurrection of note, I have neglected this for far too long.

In the meantime I have been doing private bespoke carpentry work for paying customers to finish off my garage, buy tools, and build up a timber stockpile.

A mate of mine got me in contact with a chap that had a few tools to get rid of as he dont need them at all. I made him a low-ball offer, and he fell for it, they are listed below.

Shopmate 5200 AT4 Radial arm saw (made in USA)
Electra Bechum HC260 thicknesser/joiner (Taiwan)
Umprofsu dust extractor (Taiwan)
10 mini bandsaw (same as the old craftsmen benchtop bandsaw) (Taiwan)
No-name brand multipurpose sander (belt and disc) (Taiwan)
Cheapish router table attachment (Unknown origin)

I have tested all the tools and they work 100% (apart from the bandsaw, needs new rubbers)

I also got some other hand tools I bought new from my own shop.

De Walt 4ah 18v cordless drill/driver (super ludicrous expensive over here)
Stanley hand planes (assortment for some fine work)
Pliers, olfa cutters, stabila levels, pipe clamps, reckord sash clamps etc...

My garage is almost to the standard that I can start taking on full kitchen installations and such. Will need to move my car out though, running out of space, fast.

Will post pics as soon as I get a chance to take some proper ones.

Thanks
Wouter
