Hey guys,

I just joined on the recommendation from someone in one of my Facebook groups. I thought I would post a few pics of my HF 72" box. I'm not a mechanic by trade.; I used to be in the automotive electrical field a long time ago, but these days I sell shop supplies and hardware in the automotive and marine industries.....

I've had this box for about 3 years now. I've always used Snap on tools, but can't justify the price of a Snap on box to sit in my garage, so this was a good trade off. I did the entire box in Kaizen foam that I cut myself by hand. A long and tedious process, but it's exactly what I want. I also made a custom socket organizer because I couldn't find anything I like. Here's a few pics of my setup.... If anyone is interested I have tons more pics and some videos on how I did everything.

I look forward to getting to know some of you guys and hopefully learning a few new things and maybe teaching some things I've leaned along the way.....

Solid setup. Welcome and don't be surprised if your tool collection grows after spending time on here. I have splurged on some snap on ratchets and knipex pliers among other things thanks to GJ in the last month or so.

I'm always buying tools. It's an addiction of mine. I've had the same Snap on rep since 1990. I spend a lot of money with him and he takes very good care of me. I've been out of work since March 24th (going back on Monday thankfully), but my Snap on rep has been mailing me stuff almost every week. I should be getting a package in the mail today. :)

Do those sockets all fall over when you close that drawer ?

Nope!
That's a custom made socket organizer that I made myself. 1/2 MDF covered in 1/8 ABS. Drilled holes for plastic dowels that each socket sits on. I transported the box on a truck. 45 minute ride and only 2 sockets were out of place when it got there....

Damn! That’s a very nice box. My MAC box is an absolute mess. And a lot of tools in my MAC box are HF, so I’m the opposite. I’m slowly changing out all my HF stuff for nice stuff. I’ll probably end up with something similar to your set up. I’ll sell my black and chrome triple bank MAC and buy a black and chrome 72” HF and use the remaining money to go crazy on tools.

I've been buying tools for 30 years. Unless you have a lot of excess cash it takes a long time....

i have that same 72 and have it loaded heavy. so heavy it is chore to move it. i think you made a good decision. i live in a part of the world that is not flush with pawn shops and cheap second hand boxes. i had an old 44 and side box with crinkle finish that served my for close to 10 years i just needed more room. i think it will serve you well for years to come.
