Spent the weekend emptying out the garage and filling cracks, and yesterday went to work grinding with the 9" Edco unit with the dust kit. Grinding went much better than I had anticipated as I managed to do my 600 sq. ft. garage in about two hours, with another 30 minutes touching up the edges with an angle grinder. The dust kit is a must as it made the majority of the job virtually dust free.

When I started over the weekend the forecast had six days clear of rain, but then we had a storm threatening last night. I moved a few items back in, so I got those cleared out this morning and got the primer down. I cleaned up and headed in to work so I'll be curious how it looks when I get home tonight.

Two items seem evident-my filled cracks were well covered by the primer which is great. Unfortunately some of winter salt damage appears to be too much for just the prime and epoxy to cover, which isn't so great. I'm thinking the plan at this juncture is to soldier on, use more flakes in those areas, and simply not worry about it. I thought about additional primer, but after seeing the coverage of the first coat I'm not hopeful that would solve the issue.

In hindsight, with 30 years of age on it I should have definitely tended to the three areas in my prep. Looks better already so I'm happy, and I don't plan on losing any sleep over it. Been a fun project thus far, and am looking forward to wrapping up over the next two days.

I just did my floors. The mid coat is the thickest and will cover a lot of imperfections.

Hi, primer is not meant to hide anything. It acts as a sealer so the thick epoxy bonds better and sits thicker on the floor.

No liquid coating alone will 'fix' a degraded floor, but a 100% solids epoxy system will make it much better.

Yeah I knew that, and want to clarify that I wasn't implying or thinking that epoxy would be a miracle worker on my thirty year old floor. It was more my inexperience in misjudging just how deep the pock marks are.

I was checking it out last night with a coldie in hand and I'm pretty confident at this point that its gonna look great when I'm done with it. The Armorpoxy kit has been great thus far, and I'm looking forward to getting the epoxy down today. More pics to come as I move on through the project.

Appreciate the feedback and encouragement.

I used a v notch squeegee to lay down my mid coat then back rolled it. I think this helped fill my low/pitted areas. The flakes I think helped hide any other imperfections too.

@KPruitt-your floor was in similar condition to mine, and itlooks great. The flakes definitely help mask the scars.

Got my epoxy down yesterday with the flakes, and top coat goes on today.

Great jobs guys!

Yes we tell customers that all of the time that the flakes visually break up the monochrome finish of the floor and help to hide any floor texture issues.

I rented the Edco from a local well known Tool Rental outfit by the name of Schulhoff Tool Rental. Their all day price was the same as HD's half day price, and from my experience their equipment is newer and better maintained. The dust kit, which was essentially two vacuums on wheels with a hose to connect to the grinder made that part of the job virtually dust free. Highly recommended.

Final pics with topcoat.

I am sure this has been discussed many times before, but what should one use to fix the pock marks in the floor?
