I was at a sale over the wknd and found a decent creeper (GPI??) for $25 and a florescent trouble light for $8 (mine does not have the black straps around the lens??). I thought it was a good deal, let me know if you have found better...

A better deal can always be found if you look long and hard enough. As far as your purchases, you did fair IMO. If the creeper works and suits your needs, good buy. The light is an ok buy also. You didn't steal them and you didn't get raped.

I have found over time I find better deals and get a little smarter every time I pay too much for something. I attend 2 auctions every week and search craigslist most everyday, so i find some great deals. The secret is not to be looking for a paticular item as much as looking for the deal. If I go to an auction and there's only a few items that interest me, chances are I won't get a good deal. But if there are 100 items that interest me, I'll come home with many good deals. Since most of what I buy is for resale, I don't care what it is as long as there is some profit potential. Some of the people I bid against are after a paticular item and will always outbid me. There is even one fellow I see fairly often who buys for his own use and I find out what he wants ahead of time and typically don't bid against him if he will leave me alone on some items I really want. Hopefully, this will help you in your quest for an overflowing tool box with cash leftover!
