Hi all.
Here are some pics of the barn I an turning into a workshop.
Here it is the way I bought it:

Had to dig out the back wall and remove all the stalls and walls inside:

Had the dirt part of the floors poured, fixed the formerly buried wall, added some walls to make it bigger including a room for a compressor:

and now adding to the front so I can close it off with a garage door and regular door:

Been doing all this work by myself except for hiring guys for the cement and dirt moving.
It will be about 2,100 sq. ft. if you count the upstairs room!

Very nice conversion, what are your plans for the space? Location?

I hope to set it up for building HAMB friendly cars, rebuild my 66 Mustang fastback and 68 Torino fastback, and assorted and varied projects.
I am in SC, the CSRA area.
Bought the property two years ago, has a 1700+ sq. ft. house and 6 acres.
Been slow going since I am doing it by myself and I am not a carpenter or in great health......

DJ, great looking remodel going there. I have created a picture in my head and imagine how it will look. I am anxious to see if I am even reasonably close. What are your plans for he upstairs room? Just hang out and relax area? It's looking good

hopefully will have the garage door installed Saturday then I have to grind and fill the floor in the door area to get it to close properly.
After all this then I have to wire and finish the inside!

Looking good can't wait to see the finished product. What goes in the upstairs room?

Probably my electronics lab and storage.
Wasn't that much to add the room and it gives a nice view over the garden,
road, and back of the lot.

Very nice conversion  I hope you incorporated one or two of the stall doors into the design just as a reminder. Can't wait to see some more pics.

That is really nice, and props to you for doing (nearly) all the work yourself.

The upstairs electronics room is neat - almost like a grown-up treehouse in the way that it's semi-secluded and the stair access...

What I like most about it is the unusual layout, which allows you to get creative with the different spaces. Maybe it's just me, but I find it very difficult to decide on a floorplan for a "regular" rectangular garage.

wow djmartins!

that looks awesome!

i like the fact it's a little different from the standard 'box' - it's heritage is pretty cool too (altho my sister, who breeds horses, would likely kill ya! :lol_hitti )

looking forward to more updates!

cheers and well done from Down Under!

Pretty cool conversion. Do you have access to the upstairs room from inside?
