my BIG clusterf**k

well i started moving stuff from my rented shop space back to my home garage this morning. wifes unemployment ran out 2 weeks ago, between that and, couple weeks ago, my shop was broken into by the landlords employee and a couple friends.
well they got busted trying to pawn some of the stuff they stole, at least i have recovered most of my tools. after a heated arguement with the landlord we decided to move out.
I managed to get the shelves and a most of my cabinets off the wall and loaded up. ran out of room in the truck.
, so back to the house, threw up some shelves, and unloaded most of the cabinets/ and small parts. sunday one of my shop partners is coming by and were gonna get the last large cabinet down and get the compressor loaded up i already have a shelf about 5 ft off the floor for the compressor at home, just a matter of lifting it up there. and finding a place for a 4'x4' 24" deep wall cabinet and parts washer
next week i'll get my trailer hooked up and grab 3 sets of toolboxes, pipe bender, chop saw, bench grinder, BBQ grill and whatever will fit in the truck and get it moved. still have to find storage for a spare axle and 5 or 6 spare tires, 1/2 dozen wheels, and a 4x4 steel welding table.
when i get everything in the garage, hopefully i'll have room for my s-10 blazer thats in the middle of a straight axle swap, front spring mounts are tacked in place, but no steering or brakes. that should be fun to load/unload.

this *****, it was about 15 degress this morning

at least i'll have most of my tools in the same place now, probably wont have room for my toolbox collection, so i already made room in my basement reloading/hobby room for 2 set of boxes.

Crewchief I do understand the joy of having your chit stolen . I had some nice little punk bust out the back window of my service van Wednesday night and help themselves to a recovery machine and a vacuum pump ( around $1000.00 worth of tools ) . I waited here Thursday long enough for the waste of space Crime lab lady to show up and not take prints of do much of anything else other than write down what was taken and what everything was worth . I spent the rest of the day running service calls and then comming home and installing a video surveilance system and some motion detector alarms .

i wouldnt waste a reload on em, i'd spring for a nice, new 230grain 45acp black talon right between the eyes.
it's funny you mention that, round here i'm legal to carry, and usually do, specially if i was in the shop, at night alone. more than one friend has stopped by and was surprised when they walked in the door.
even here at the house, if i was in the garage at night i'd have a pistol laying on the workbench, even deters my friendly neighbors from hanging around too long.

we got lucky, the guys that broke in tried to pawn my plasma cutter at a pawn shop that close by my house. i had engraved some of my stuff with my name and phone #. the pawn shop was looking it over, and put 2 and 2 together since the name's and #'s didnt match what the kid told them, and he said it was his, they got his info, and called the cops. couple days later one of the other morons went back to the same pawn shop with some other stuff that was taken, cops got called while he was still there, BUSTED!! after some interogation he gave up his buddies, cops raided the house where the tools were at. we got back most of the bigger stuff, still a few sockets and a couple wrenches missing, nothing that cant be replaced for $50 or so.

from what the cops told me, they been busting the pawns shops and charging them with possesion of stolen property. so the pawn guys are leery of anything that sounds/ looks fishy.
unemployment is really high in this area, so they are seeing a lot of tools being brought in. i guess the big thing was the guy that brought it in, didnt know much about it, and said it was his.
i went over to this pawn shop, it's literally a 1/4 mile from my house, and thanked the owner for noticing something was up. this guy's been in business for years, and has a pretty good BS detector.
couple years ago, my neighbors garage was vandalized, mostly tools, they found the stuff at the nearest pawn shop. neighbors eventually got his stuff back turns out his grandson needed drug $$.

everybody round here is deathly afraid of my dog, closest neighbor is the only one she even lets in the yard. he's cool, right after i moved in his dogs were barking, he looks out and see's someone going into my garage, out the door he goes, and coldcocks the guy as he's coming back out. i get a call from the cops, so i make a high speed 1 1/2hr run back home, and find my nieghbor cuffed in a squad car. the 2 guys he caught in the garage are about to be set free. i told the cops, gimme a minute while i run in a let the dog loose, lets see who she bites, whoever she bites i get 1 shot at, they eventually let my neighbor go, and hauled off the 2 guys.

Crew....glad you got your stuff back.....you are a good example of why it's good to mark your stuff......the odds of getting something back with no name and # on it is about -10.

Cameras are good.....in most cases the dirt bag is local.....

And....I can't say enough about dogs.....if someone wants in bad enough...they will get in...but a dog keeps about 99% of the dirt bags out...the 45 takes care of the rest

ive always had a shepard, or a larger mix breed. not all of them would bite someone, but they've all been good watch dogs. more than once ive leveled a 45 or 12 guage at an intruder, never had any problems after that.
a few years ago i was living in fl, and our subdivison had a rash of breakins.
fully thing was we didnt have any problems close by my house, party cuz of my dog, and i like to think mostly cuz 3 -4 times a week i had gun matches that i shot at, and never had a case for my "racing" shotgun. always carried it in the open and put it in my van. and of course my appearance was intimidating at the time, 6' 225lb, (i was playing semi pro football at the time), full beard and hair down to my ***,and the only harley around, and had several friends that used to stop by, picture the TV show gangland when they featured the warlocks and outlaws.... i think you'll get the picture
