My blank slate

Ok so it's not TOTALLY a blank slate but for me it's good enough. 630 sq. ft garage if I remember correctly. We just moved in Friday so keep that in mind.

I do automotive detailing so this garage will get geared somewhat towards that. But everything I do will make it more useful all the way around. So here's the first couple of things I want to do off the top of my head.

1) trench in a 3/4 water line to it so I can have an indoor water spigot to wash vehicles off with. We get into the negatives here in SoDak so this is pretty vital. I will also lay a 2 or 3 in. PVC pipe right next to it for pushing updates over to it (ethernet, gas line, electrical)

2) For now i am thinking just a simple 110 or 220 heater to hold over for the first winter.

3) As money accumulates I plan on adding insulation and sheet rocking it.

4) Going to add T8 lights down the middle of each 'bay' this is crucial for detailing.

5) other future updates will include a small water heater, industrial sink, washer and dryer and an air compressor. Our water heater in the house runs off of NG so I was also thinking pushing an NG line over and running a heater off of that in the future.

So what do you guys think? Anything stand out to you that you would want to do?

Nice starting point. Is that your house in the first picture or are you standing at your house taking the picture? Are you planning to wash cars inside the garage?

Insulation first, otherwise heating will be futile on below zero nights.
I'd go with natural gas for the heater.
Depending on local regulations and codes you may have an issue with putting in a water faucet without a drain. If it is allowed I'd think about using a freezeless yard hydrant, so the shutoff valve is underground below the frost line.
As far as that goes, if you're washing cars inside the garage in winter, where will the runoff water go?
For lighting, just a strip down the middle of each bay will light up the roof of the car but will leave shadows down the sides.

I was going to just squeegee water out. I'm going to try and do it as much as possible outside if I can. There are also other ways to wash a vehicle other than using tons of water.

And if I'm doing a bunch of detailing in the garage I will in the future do fixtures on the sides also. But a workstation light will suffice for now.
