My build project - 10x20 Garden Garage

We the wife says she is tired of trying to get round all my car projects to get to the gardening stuff, and I too would love to have that **** outta my way! Answer: build her a Garden Garage.

Started with a 10 x 20 pad that was already on there (was a dog run years ago!). Drew up some plans and made my lists of materials and started to build.

Keep in mind I did ALL the work myself with no helpers... price or living out in the hills, not alot of close by help.

Then work stopped! I got injured building this...

story goes like this:

I took my gloves off to move the table saw and organize the work space some. I had a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the way so I grab it and swing it around to place along the wall, plywood hits the edge of the saw and slips, grabs my right hand and sticks itself deep into my palm... remember I removed my gloves just minutes before ( I know dumb me... ).. it hurts and I stop to go inside and review the damage.

Chunk of wood imbedded deep in my hand and I dig and dig but it aint moving and refused to come out! So I clean the wound and rest for the day. Next day get up and man it hurts bad, wife says go to the doc and get that splinter out, me I say "it's a splinter and will work its way out".... well two days later and my hand hurts to bad to do much, so off to docs I go and he send me to Ortho Specialists. That doc says " Son we will get up into surgery ASAP"... what? surgery... yup

So 2 days later I am in the surgery center and being prepped for surgery. I mean real surgery here folks. They put me under and 20 minutes later I came back awake and my right hand is all badged up! They took out 2 large fragments deep in the skin.

So my project sits with no doors and no trim for at least one more week until I get the stitches out..

nice little shed your building there! that's a pretty good battle wound as well, it's a good thing it didn't cut a nerve... a co worker of mine had a very similar injury and lost the use of a two fingers on his hand. namely because he waited too long to goto the hospital and the ER just stitched it up and didn't catch the internal damage until much later.

hope your hand heals well so we can get some more updates.

I'm gradually getting out of the habit of bleeding on my projects. I think they call it gaining experience.

I guess you can always add more windows later, but that is one hell of a view. Is one window enough?

Yes indeed, it is called experience. Hell at my ripe old age of 39, I still manage to learn life lessons .

As for the windows, the left side door opening will go out into a greenhouse that I will be building soon so no need for windows on that side. This building is going to house all the gardening, tractor and pool stuff so not really a "hang out" spot. The view is great and I had to give her that window because that is where her potting workbench and sink will be.

I got the roof finally done this week, all the shingles are on and it looks good, pictures soon.
