Hello from South Central Pennsylvania!
I live in a rural area about 15 miles outside of Harrisburg and have been in the planning phases for my pole barn/garage/workshop since about May.
I looked all over and got about 12 estimates and advice from friends that are farmers, etc. and the best offer I got by a few thousand on the building and on concrete was Fisher Brothers Builders.
My pole barn will be 24x40x12 so I can put a car lift in later. I am getting the concrete and site grading by them also as well as the electric, a water line from the house, and sewage line stubbed out to put a toilet in.
I am going to start reading this forum religiously as it seems to have a LOT of information to the questions I have like what is the best and cheapest lighting, electrical work, etc. But I have questions on the toilet part and I didn't really see anything referencing plumbing to a garage or shop type set-up.
Nothing fancy, just a sink and a commode. Some of the things I am wondering about is if it needs a vent pipe run out of the roof for the sink and toilet or not.
I am also wondering about heating (which I saw is covered in the forum), insulation, and more so I have some reading to do.
I am also having him bury a 2inch or so PVC conduit from the house to the pole barn while the ground is open so I can fish-in an ethernet cable for internet, or security camera, or whatever later as the building will only be about 70 feet from the house.
I will ATTEMPT to get and post some pics of the progress at least of the building going up and the concrete work as I am able to, because I have been a lurker here at this site for a little while now and the info and especially the photos have been a great help.
PLEASE feel free to throw any "gotchas that you have run into that would save me a headache or two.
Thanks,
Lloyd Harnish
