I've been looking at all the cabinet/storage options and trying to decide what to do. I found these cabinets, made an offer and struck a deal.

I'll be painting them red and setting half up in my garage and half in my workshop. I'm thinking I'll just cover them with 1/2 plywood and a layer of laminate for tops and have ample workbench area at low cost.

Dude, good job. I have two sets, red, vintage. They work great. Please send pictures when completed. I installed stainless counter tops on mine. There is a thread on here somewhere with pictures. Good luck.

Ha, that's great. Did you get the oven also ? The reason I as is that I've seen quite a few posts suggesting one for powder coating, or you could make frozen pizzas in the garage... :bounce:

No, I didn't take the oven but I did end up with the overhead fan system. Some of the cabinets have the original under cabinet light bars as well. I won't be using them though, they're the old two wire system with heavy guage steel casings.
Overall the cabinets appear to be heavier and sturdier than most "garage" cabinets available today.
