Years ago after my Grandmother died and my mom and aunt were going through their parents home. I was given the opportunity to go through my grand fathers tools and take what I wanted. Other family members had already taken the bulk of the tools but I got to get a few things.
I was not into tools back then like I am now. I used tools everyday but I was in my mid 20s and thought my grand father's tools were just old and didn't meet the same standards as todays tools. Fast forward almost 10 years.
I had completely forgotten about those tools as they sat in my mom's basement and my mom decides to pack them up and mail them to me for Christmas. I had no idea what was in there so as I was going through each tool wrapped in newspaper was a treasure waiting to be opened.
There are -v- craftsman wrenches, Uticia pliers, a Diamond 12" adjustable, Billings, Williams, Bonney, Cresent, and Fairmount wrenches, Stanley USA wood chisels, and some older wrenches I would guess are pre 50's. Many are rusty and need some TLC. I wiped some of them down with some 3n1 oil and the rust doesn't appear to be deeper then surface rust (thankfully).
If he were alive today he would be in his mid to late 90's.
This represents about 1/3 of what I collected. Here are a few that i wiped down:
He worked in a time where using your hands was respected. He was able to provide for his family and his wife was not forced to work to make ends meet.
I wish I would have asked him more questions and miss him dearly.
