Picked up a compressor today from a neighbor a couple houses down. Guy said the knob on the regulator keeps coming off and he didn't want to mess with it.

I just downloaded the manual for it and will looking to replace the regulator and do some maintenance before starting her up.

Can see the glue he used to try to fix the knob.

Anyone know anything bout this compressor?

Oh and best of all, I got it for FREE. :rocker:

You ****!

(That's a friendly term here)

That compressor ought to serve you well if it still works. What do you plan to use it for? Pick up a low cost regulator at Harbor Freight and a hose too. Spend a bit extra to get one of their Goodyear hoses. The plastic skinned hoses are a PITA to use; ask me how I know! Oh, and make sure to change the oil and drain the tank of water regularly. If you're goona paint with it, get a combo regulator with a water filter. If you're gonna use a lot of air tools, you'll need a lubricator. If not a lot, just add a few drops to the tool before/after use. Nice score

I'm surprised it's an oiled pump. I've got a 20gal craftsman that is oil-less. It's crazy loud. How's the noise on that one? Regulators are cheap, I'd recommend a regulator/filter combo like a campbell hausfield or jet. Mount it on the wall next to the compressor if you don't plan on moving the compressor around much. I'd bet the oil needs changing and the tank has a bunch of water in it judging by the fix made to the regulator.

Yea you get the You **** award for that Score! That's a handy little compressor and should serve you well.
Do as others have said and maintenance it. Regulators are cheap and you can see easy to install.

Nice score!

I've had that same unit for 16+ years and have changed the oil once, maybe twice and I have not put a nickle into it....dumb luck I guess. Good score.

The oil wasn't as dirty as I thought it would be. But I have peace of mind knowing its clean now. Got a cheap regulator that will do for now from HF and a 50' 3/8" goodyear hose and assorted fittings. Once I'm sure I like where it rests I'll plumb some black iron to the center of the garage and use a regulator/filter then. I need to find a new air filter cover and make a new power cord (this one is missing the ground prong)

Started her up and was surprised how quiet she is and how quick she fills up. Only with it was more than 100 psi. Oh well. She holds pressure like new. I used it today to fill tires on the cars and blow water from behind lights and door handles after washing my car. So far I'm digging it. Gonna pick up a CP earthquake impact tomorrow.

I want to research the serial number to find out when this was manufactured. I don't really care how old it is but am curious. Positive this thing will last a long time.

I've had one of those for a few years. Served me well before I upgraded to a 5hp 60 gal vertical. They run quiet and put out a decent amount of air. Way better than a new oil-less compressor in my opinion.

I'm not sure how you have it wired now, but I would run it on 220 if it isn't already.

My dad had the same compressor when I was growing up. You need to check the air tank well. His finally started to rust after probably 20 years of good service. A rust hole in an air tank can be dangerous. Check it out.

From what I see in your pictures, it looks like it is dated 11-11-87. Not certain that's the date, but that's what it looks like.

DANG!!! That looks just like the one I have but mine is 30 years old and still going. If you look it can either be 110 voltage or 230 voltage. Mine came wired for 230 and I never bothered changing it. Great Score!
