so any way my krsc40a has somehow gone from spacious to filled to the brim in a manner of a few months :(.......... :)

i have been looking for my snapon guy to find me a nice used kra i could trade my roll cart in on but last night after work i stumbled upon this on craigslist

he wanted $175 and i countered at $150 and procedded to load them in my trailblazer

the botton is a kra-557b i havent found the label on the top yet but its not the matching kra-537 :(

the top appears to be newer

i'm currently cleaning them but i'm thinking i'm gonna strip them down and repaint them, and i'll clean and regrease the sticky slides while i'm in there

Heckuva deal. However, since they don't match, I'll take the top box off your hands because I've got the bottom it goes with.

thnx, jack vines

got it cleaned up quite a bit

top box is a kra-61f

one of the metal hinged straps that prevents the top lid from flipping over is MIA

the drawer fronts and the exterior of both boxes need paint(it has some light bubbling at the edges but the metal is still very solid)

now i need to figure out if i want it to be red or another color

if i want it to be another color i'll take it all apart and have everything prepped and sprayed base/clear (i kinda like that 2006 ford mustang retro lime green i think it would look sweet on this box with a few pony stickers)

or i could prep the outsides and the drawer fronts and spray it the same red as my krsc40a

either way i want to order a set of new style locks that match my cart and upgrade those

if i could find a restorable kra-537 matching top in time for reasonable $ i would sell the 61f and go for the matched set

A reasonable price for a restorable KR 537 that isn't all dented up is anywhere from $100-200. To get one that would match your box, looks like it would be a 1970s model. Mine are from '83 and '84 and have the chrome drawer fronts.

anybody want to recommend an air sander that would be good for the surface prep?

here some more pics

removed all the drawer/hardware and the top/sliding panel

sanded down all the bottom rust (looked like a brake fluid spill happened at some point) and i hit the fresh metal with some etching primer
