here is a few pics of some stuff my dad has here in ireland , the 1949 dodge hearse might interest some of you guys in the states , it is very unusual over here and as you will see from the pics it was a barn find ! it had been in storage for over twenty years and as a result the engine (a flat head six petrol) is now well and truly siezed !

That Dodge is just as, or more, unusual over here. I've never seen one and believe by the design that it was made for the British market. I don't ever remember seeing hearses here with side windows that large.
I hope your dad is planning on restoring it.

Both cars look sweet.

Is that second one a Ford Zephyr?

I don't think I have ever seen either of those Stateside.

hi guys thanx for the replys , yeah the black car is a ford zephyr , my dad also has a white one (PICS TO FOLLOW) , looks like the dodge is a real rare beast so , we believe it started life as a pick up when it was imported from the states back in 1952 , we think a local man converted it into a hearse then judging by the workmanship ! we are trying in vain to free out the engine at the moment so fingers crossed

I would be interested in seeing the modifications closer.

Your dad's Dodge has a similar roof line to this:

1949 Dodge with Campbell Mid-State 'Club' body (used to be an Ohio fire truck transport)

However, your dad's looks like it has some earlier rear fenders (early 1940s).

I had thought it was a modified panel van

But here is a rear view (1948)

Some cool information on the Zephyr. I tried to see what USDM model it would have been as Nate379 said they had been stateside, but I couldn't find it. Looks like a clean example of a 1 of 106,000 Zephyr 4 Mk III.

eta: I didn't put the img tags on the photos so as to not steal bandwidth from the owners.

I reckon you're right, it maybe started life as a pickup or panel and was rebodied by a local coachbuilder into a hearse, it may even have been imported as just a bare chassis/cab and then bodied, not that uncommon. Nice though, it has to stay as a hearse, would make a cool way to take that last ride, it needs some ghost flames and a big block to be truly awesome.
