Not to threadjack, but I couldn't be happier with my Ryobi 18V lithium-ion batteries. I have five of them now (agree with all of the nicad comments above - I've spent way too much of my life taking them apart, "shocking" shorted cells to burn out the shorts, etc).
One of the Ryobi 18V Lithiums I "lost" in the attic (where it gets over 130 degrees in the summer) for a year - it was on my impact gun that I left up there to reinstall the attic fan that I took a year to put back in (sad, I know).
That battery still had 50% charge after sitting for an entire year, part of it at high temperatures. A week before I remembered where the battery was, I broke down and bought a new impact and drill combo kit with two of the half-size lithium batteries (which are great for drills, not the best for the hi-amp tools like vacuum and circular saw) for just over $100 (less than the cost of the two batteries).
Ryobi cut the price on their full-size 18V lithium batteries by 50% this past year, and they usually have good deals on the tool kits on Black Friday at Home Depot. Best bang for the buck IMO (I'm a homeowner and have never wore any of my 18V Ryobi tools out yet, and have been using them for the past 12-13 years). My friends and neighbors who use Dewalt all have battery problems with the nicads as well.
