MY DILEMA:
Several times a year I say I am going to do something to make my garage floor look good but never get past which to do - coating or tile.

What are the pros and cons? Is there a good way to decide? I really want to proceed this time!

A lot depends on what you do in the garage.

Check out the 12-gauge garage.....then ask that question again

As John says, it all depends on use and budget. I was in your shoes several years ago and decided on Epoxy. I have a 3 bay garage and use one bay for woodworking and one bay for my Mustang mechanical work. My floor looks as good now as when I first put it down. I have dragged floor jacks, used jack stands, moved my large woodworking machines around and generally abused the floor plenty.

I think if you have a large budget and want more of a show floor, that you can also work on, then tile is the way to go. Depending on the tile you choose, tile will hold up to lots of abuse and still look great. Epoxy will not look as showroom as tile but will still look great and with a good Polyurethane clear topcoat, will hold up to lots of abuse.

Thank you, John. The 12-gauge garage is awesome. I have more to think about, but I'm not going to overthink. I want to get this done. I'll be back here soon.

Thank you, Earl. Your garage is awesome. I like the two-tone wall paint, but I won't be painting a stripe. My walls are white but I may do another color for the bottom, or do a vinyl stripe as mentioned.
