I have a wall dividing the front half of my workshop from the back half. The front half is climate controlled, the back half isn't. Since the back is where my overhead door is, I needed an opening in the dividing wall big enough to drive a vehicle through for winter storage. I didn't want a conventional overhead door, so I decided to build something that would do the job.
The opening is 9 ft wide x 8 ft high. The doors on each side are hinged. The door in the center lifts out and is located by 2 steel pins in the top and 2 latches at the bottom going into a hardwood sill.
Door construction is 1 1/2" foamboard in a wood frame with 1/4" plywood on each side. Everything is weatherstripped and air tight. Total cost was about $200.
The doors really are straight, my camera apparently isn't.........
