Long time mechanic first time having my own garage. Hope to share my fun and get some great ideas. Just moved in a few weeks ago. So this is my mess so far.

Congrats on the first garage! Looks like a great blank canvas to start with.

Great garage, especially for your first! That's quite the beam they used in there. Our builder was willing to use something like that in lieu of a support pole, but they wanted something like $3000. Is that a 4' extra wide section on the right side? There's a few similarities between our garages, undoubtedly due to the fact we are both in Alberta.

You have the perfect driveway for your rig and trailer, too! Around here, our streets turn into campgrounds since our driveways aren't quite long enough for some of these trailers. It actually annoys me when people store their trailers, with the bump outs, on the street for over a week in anticipation of a long weekend. Having yours neatly tucked on your driveway is a real score. I bet that was a consideration when you made your purchase.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Best of luck.

Good luck with your transformation. Very envious of that driveway especially. Holding that 5th wheel and truck together and out of the way of the actual door.

The driveway was one of the biggest buying points for me. We had wanted a acreage but not much on the market. The garage is 25 by 25. I think. I would have loved for it to be a steal beam. So the ceiling would be even across. Maybe if I stay long term. As that would make a nice bench top. Hoping to put my tools away. Throw up some lights the week.

I found that the last owner pre wired a light socket so let their be light. A friend was cleaning out his basement. So the only thing better than light is free light.

Seeing that heater is reminding me to get mine hooked up. I'm sure I'll wait until the last minute to get it going.
Good looking space to make yours.

The tools were always a problem I ended up with two sets of hand tools. And always taking my specialty tools back in forth. Most of the time ending up in my back seat. But now I have a camp job so for the first time everything is in one place. And loving it so far I keep unpacking and finding boxes of tools. Lol

Sled storage didn't work the way I was hoping. So a little redesign. I should be able too drive off my trailer on to the rack.

Its funny when i first saw that metal "table" you were building i thought it was for a workbench and i was thinking its a little big and would rob a bunch of space. Now that i know the use, damn that's brilliant!

I face the same problem in Bankview and with the inner-city streets that are already narrow it makes it difficult navigating sometimes when the trailers and motorhomes are out.

I know it ***** to be "that guy" but if it is a real problem where you live, Calgary has a bylaw that does not allow detached trailers and campers to be parked on streets or alleys and motorhomes may only be parked directly adjacent to the owner's home and not for more than 36 hours.

http://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/ABS/Pages/Bylaws-by-topic/Recreational-vehicles.aspx

If it's the odd time then I wouldn't worry about it but if it is continuous for the summer then you could print off a copy of the bylaw and leave it in the window or door of the trailer to make sure the owner knows. If it's still parked there the next day or two then I would call the city.

Great start, Mike. I like the sled rack, that's a pretty ambitious project... I'd always be scared it would collapse.
