I got my post brackets and post then it was time to dig out some more Z-purlins I take a scrap purling and make a bracket and weld it to the main runners so it makes locating the cross purlins easier.

I finished bolting all the Z purlins up and added braces. Weather was getting bad later that day so I used my ratchet straps to X brace the structure till I have time to do cables. they also cam back and fixed the drain how I wanted it.

That deck is big enough you could have put in an Olympic size pool. The kids would have loved it.

Joking aside looks great......
Trust me They got plenty of pool. lol The pool company wanted $6k for a slide and to jump from 30ft to 35ft was $5k. So I told the wife no slide you can have a bigger pool. She was down for that. Originally I was planning a 20x20 pavilion but I ended up making it 23x23. If I could I would concrete my whole yard less grass to mow.

So I have been waiting for winter time to do some more shop work. I was bound and determined to hook up my floor heat. So I can see what it would do with just this hot water heater. The water heater ran for 2 Days and 60*F is all it would do In and 52*F out. it was not overly warm but it defiantly knocked the Chill out of the shop outside temp was in the mid 40s .

Thanks, I appreciate it. It defiantly has been a journey.

Always safe on the rigs.

Finally got around to Putting up railing on my Mezzanine deck. The kids have been bugging me about going up there and I told them I will not let them up there till I have railing.

So the original plan was to build stairs however finding a set already built was way cheaper and way faster. Only 1 problem My landing for my stair case had to be eliminated to move the staircase in more to Not block the door.

So the beige colored shelfs came from the local hospital. they were too for the Mezzanine height so the were cut close to half and the extra worked out great for storage behind the railing to allow for more free space to organize parts. finished getting the OSB up for railing cover and started hanging my signs

I just went through thread to look at the heat and insulation setup. Looks like you only had double bubble type insulation under the slab. Without 2"of foam insulation under and on the edges of your slab and only six loops of radiant spaced out that far, I don't think you will ever heat that slab up easily.

Yes, you are correct. I did the same exact setup as my Homebuilders did on my house. I added 6mil plastic for a moisture barrier as well

Got the mezzanine door mounted and the last sheet of OSB. The Ship I have worked on for over the past decade had some old navigational light they were going to throw away. So I got a red and green one but they were 24volts European bulbs so I converted them to 120v LED.

Got the Nav lights mounted on the hand rails. Mounted the Tv mounted for Movie night with the wife but the kids were enjoying some cartoons in the shop. we had like 5-6 inches of snow and riding in the gator but that damn wind was so cold the wife suggested cardboard doors since the gator does have heat. and they weren't $3k (John Deere's prices)

Nice shop man. I know you are happy. The progress is great.
Thank your Sir slowly but surely

I got the navigational lights wired up and working. I also pulled da 100amp service panel to the other side of the shop so it would be easier to supply that side of the shop with power. Also added power to another flood light between the shop doors outside.

Thank your Sir slowly but surely

I got the navigational lights wired up and working. I also pulled da 100amp service panel to the other side of the shop so it would be easier to supply that side of the shop with power. Also added power to another flood light between the shop doors outside.
Nice. I have been jonesing to get a pole barn/living quarters combo but land is my struggle. They ain’t making no more land… I’m almost at retirement age.. it’s still a dream and who knows what the next few years will bring. I enjoy looking at what the young can achieve. It’s only time and money right?

Yea I have been also waiting on Materials to come down in prices too
Shelby has been our light for sure. My son William has been an amazing big brother too. He takes very good care of his sister and they play really well together too.

The sewer vent was kind of a after thought. I didn't have a idea at first but, I also didn't want to poke a hole in my roof either.

the loft is going to be open to the shop. My original plan was to build my gym and parts storage. However its gonna be so big. I plan on putting a TV on the back wall and making it like a lounge for the kids to play in and possibly a slide.

its slowly coming together for sure

The heated floor is not done yet still got to buy a boiler. I don't know if it will be enough heat or not but, if it knocks the chill off I will be fine with that.
How about a fire pole!?!

Here is another pic of the nav lights.
I have been wanting a newer lathe similar to the one I use at work. Also one that was tighter and I could use to cut threads with. Not to mention having a independent 4 jaw chuck so out with the summit lathe and in with the jet. Shelby autographed the olde one when is was against the shop wall I found this signature after I moved it.

The only thing wrong with the shed and house combo is working on anything automotive gas fumes ,carbon monoxide, noise ETC.
Mine was originally supposed to be a pole barn. However this is my forever home and I want it built sound. The builder said he was going to spray foam it. I asked what do you do between the roof metal and spray foam. He said just house wrap so the spray foam doesn't stick to the metal. So lets say 10 to 20years later I have a roof replaced if the contractor doesn't stand on a board he will fall thru my roof with no metal. I wanted it more secure so I asked the house be covered in OSB just like a normal house. So he asked if he could just stick frame the house instead of pole barn. I said that was fine builder asked for me to cover the difference $3500. Fast forward to the banker home inspector came to do a inspection and said this is not what we agreed on. I said yep that's on me I am paying the difference. The bank inspector said this changes everything. Now its a house with metal siding. The valve of the home just increased $15-$20k for an $3500 change. I was amazed

The new lathe came with almost everything Except a bigger quick change tool post. So I machine my old one to fit the new one. Then got it all setup in its new home.

Nice. The lathe looks right at home. Is your new to you Jet lathe a 13x39 or 14x40? We have an old Jet 12x39 at work, which is what I used to cut my teeth on back when I developed my interest in machining. Your Jet looks very similar in size to my Precision Mathews Taiwanese 13x40 lathe other than the gearbox differences, whereas mine is a Norton style gearbox.

Are you using a BXA size toolpost attachment?
