Darren's Shop

Well, I guess it's time to stop lurking and introduce myself. I'm Darren. Just bought a house with just about everything my wife and I have been looking for and take possession this weekend. The shop is a 32' X 60' pole barn with about 2/3rd concrete and 1/3 gravel floor. It's currently un-insulated, but plan to install the white siding for the ceiling and do blow-in above, then frame out the walls with batt insulation and OSB.

These are the pics from the real estate listing, so no, I don't own all this stuff.

More to come as we take over and start to fill it up. May take a bit, have some updating on the house to do and will be taking advantage of this while I can...

Never too big! I've got lots of toys and hobbies...and many more wants.

Sorry that wasn't me that posted that. I was looking at the pictures and "The Green-Eyed Monster" posted it. :)

Does the size of the garage grow to match the toys or do the toys grow to match the size of the garage?

Either way it looks good.

Got some pics after moving some of my tools over from the town-home we've been renting. Still have to clear out a couple of storage units and finish getting the house ready to move into in a couple of weeks before I can do much with it.

All the drywall on the side walls is being removed as well as the small room in the back. The electrical is also a cluster. :shocking: Have a leak in the roof to patch and a few pieces of siding that are loose, but overall in good shape. Will get that stuff taken care of and then start closing it up and finishing out the inside again and get it ready for insulation.

Also picked up a trailer to help out with our move and for hauling new toys home for the shop. :bounce:

Darren - What part of KC?
We're in Raytown (or Rat Town as I call it from time to time)
Looks like you got a great starter project there. Welcome to the forum, these guys are a fountain of information.

Well, I guess it's been a while since I update this. Haven't gotten as far as I would have liked to, but have made some progress.

I haven't got the ceilings in yet, but I've upgraded the electrical to a new panel and mostly new wiring, straightening out the old where needed. Nothing like working on stuff that was on switched neutrals. :shocking:

I gutted the old exterior walls, which only went up 8' and finished all the way to the top. I installed rat guard, stuffed holes with steel wool and filled with expanding foam where needed, Insulated, vapor barriered, and hung OSB sheeting.

Also built myself a little office to warm back up in during the cold spells.

I added a french cleat system over the work bench so I could organize and move things around.

Still have some upper cabinets to build for it, but seems to work well, have moved the 6 items I do have on there at least a dozen times. :p

Also have added some decor items...

And what shop wouldn't be complete without a bb trap/shooting range on the back wall? :p
