My Morton 30' x 54' hobby shop was completed about a month ago and it's time to get the floor done before I move a bunch of equipment and tools in. I selected a local firm for the floor, Texas Tough Tops, because they offered 100% solid coatings.

I selected Black Marble Sparkle in the 1/16" size chip and a medium broadcast:

First, grind the floor:

Acid Etch:

Rinse again and apply base coat:

Apply color flakes and after 6 hours, apply clear coat:

18 hours to cure and done :bounce:

I am pleased with the floor. It will look good with any color combination of tool chests and cabinets I select. My black 4 post lift will be installed next week!

Next, I will start configuring the inside.

That looks very nice.

A question about the building itself. Did Morton put that OSB at floor level or was that something you did yourself?

Curious what they charged per sqft? I'm in San Antonio and wanted to get a few quotes before I decide to attempt myself or have it done.

I too am curious about that as well. I'm in San Angelo and want to have a workshop/garage built but can't find any reputable builders here. I contacted Miracle Truss now that they're back in action, but would love to have somebody local build it so the money goes to my community.

Great looking place though, the floor looks almost as awesome as those Vettes!! Can't wait to see how the place gets dressed out.

The floor was 1674 sq ft. Cost was $5,500. About $3.29 sq ft.

I went with Texas Tough Tops because the product they use is 100% solids. I got quotes all over the place from $2.50 to $4.50. Some were water based and I stayed away from those. Seth and his crew were very professional.
