I , the guy that gave you this thread http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6018101

still has not had any kind of fix ..

I am contemplating though changing the magnetic Starter to one that uses either a 220v \60hz coil or 208 .. I am getting current about 230v on my lines coming to my house . IS there any recommendation in terms of doing such ??

I currently have the coil wire out on A2 and I manually push the contactor to start then attach the wire for the unit to full up , when its complete I disconnect the wire again, one could only imagine how fun that must be !!

Why start a new thread? All the information pertinent to your problem is in the old thread. I would recommend just making a new post on that thread.

Go to original "Help with Quincy QT7.5 Compressor wiring" thread.

Uggg

3 threads just makes things confusing.

Changing the cpil wont help with the supply issues.

U say the voltage is 230v. But is that with a load or no load?

What is the size of your service?

What size wire?

What is the voltage during startup? (a DVM that has a min max avg function will help)

What is the voltage while comp is running?

its 230 with no load , with running load its about 225 . I'm not certain as to how low it drops when the compressor comes on initially though , hence the reason for the chattering .

my thoughts is , maybe .. if I replace the magnetic starter with this
Eaton XTAE040D00E040 40 Amp, IEC Starter, 208V Coil

which is a 208v coil instead of the 240v 60hz one , maybe that would be a resolution . but I don't want to invest that 200usd until I am certain .

You need to find out how low it goes during startup.

How long does it take to come up to full speed?

one guy recommended that I rebuild the control box to match the current I have on the line ..
but we have never seen it dip below 224 so is basically between 224-227v

the original contactor was set to match the 33.3a on the relay ..

when I manually press the contactor the machine starts an works , if I press it in too soft it pushes back an chatters so its safe assume that maybe a coil that requires a lower volt would work ??

What did you use to measure the startup the voltage?

Need peak/min hold feature on meter.
